Admin September 15, 2026

You can refer to the following steps to make a self-made container house:

I. Preliminary Preparation

  • Design and Planning: Clarify the purpose of the house, room layout, functional requirements, etc. Draw detailed design drawings and determine the number of containers, splicing methods, and the overall size of the house.
  • Site Preparation: Select flat and solid land that meets the requirements for house construction and go through the relevant approval procedures.
  • Material and Tool Preparation: According to the design requirements, prepare containers of appropriate specifications, as well as materials for renovation such as steel, thermal insulation materials, wall panels, roof panels, doors and windows, and tools such as welding machines, cutting machines, and screwdrivers.

II. Foundation Construction

  • Foundation Treatment: Based on the weight of the house and the geological conditions, excavate and compact the foundation, and pour a concrete foundation to ensure that the bearing capacity of the foundation meets the requirements.
  • Damp-proof Treatment: Lay a damp-proof layer on the foundation to prevent moisture from rising and affecting the service life of the house.

III. Container Renovation

  • Cutting and Splicing: According to the design drawings, cut and open holes in the containers for the installation of doors and windows and internal layout adjustments. Splice and weld multiple containers to form the main structure of the house.
  • Reinforcement Treatment: Reinforce the spliced parts to ensure the stability of the house structure.
  • Thermal Insulation and Waterproof Treatment: Install thermal insulation materials such as rock wool and glass wool on the inner walls of the containers to improve the thermal insulation performance of the house. Apply waterproof coatings or lay waterproof membranes on the roof and walls for waterproofing.

IV. Interior Decoration

  • Wall and Floor Decoration: Install wall panels and floor materials such as wooden floors and tiles to enhance the aesthetics and comfort of the house.
  • Water and Electricity Installation: Lay water pipes and wires, and install lamps, switches, sockets, faucets, and other facilities to ensure normal water and electricity supply.
  • Door and Window Installation: Install the designed doors and windows to ensure ventilation and lighting.

V. Final Work

  • Cleaning and Inspection: Thoroughly clean the house and check whether all parts are firmly installed and functioning properly.
  • Decoration and Arrangement: Decorate and arrange the house according to personal preferences to make it more cozy and personalized.
