Self-Driving Mobile Toilet
The self-driving mobile toilet is currently in the conceptual or preliminary exploration stage, with some technologies being feasible but not yet widely adopted on a large scale.

From a conceptual design perspective, Hyundai Motor of South Korea once proposed the concept of a 'self-driving toilet' on April Fool's Day, showcasing the idea of a 'toilet ride-hailing service'. This service utilizes artificial intelligence technology, allowing users to summon a driverless toilet cabin named Mobilet equipped with contactless sanitary facilities through a dedicated app similar to ride-hailing services. Users can enter via a facial recognition system, and the app offers multiple pricing tiers based on urgency, dispatching a compact toilet cabin at full speed for the highest priority. To reduce arrival times, it is also suggested to establish dedicated lanes for Mobilet. Furthermore, the design of Mobilet's toilet cabin, promotional videos, and presentation slides are all completed by artificial intelligence. However, this is currently more of a creative conceptual display and has not yet become a practically usable product.
Some argue that driverless toilet cabins are essentially the same as wheeled robot delivery services, as humans only use them in a stationary state, and there are no passengers inside during movement. In emergencies, they can be 'sacrificed', such as by actively driving them down a drain. This perspective reflects the special circumstances and usage scenarios that self-driving mobile toilets may face in design.
In terms of related technological exploration, Seres Auto Co., Ltd. has been granted a utility model patent for a 'vehicle-mounted toilet and vehicle'. The core of its vehicle-mounted toilet lies in a 'slide rail + hidden storage' mechanism. The toilet body is hidden directly beneath the seat. In case of urgent need, a gentle pull on the handle slides the toilet out along the slide rail, and it can be pushed back in after use, all silently without any abnormal noise. It is suitable for scenarios such as long-distance self-driving trips, camping, and the era of L4 autonomous driving. This provides a technological approach for the application of self-driving mobile toilets in vehicles.
Additionally, there are autonomous mobile toilet robots specifically designed for the nursing field, which can address the toilet needs of elderly individuals with mobility issues at home and those recovering from surgery. Although their application scenarios differ from those of self-driving mobile toilets, they offer certain technological insights in terms of autonomous movement and toilet functionality implementation.
