Second-hand 3x6 Container House

Admin September 17, 2026

The mainstream price range for a standard 3-meter by 6-meter second-hand residential container house is between 3,000 and 8,000 RMB, with specific prices influenced by factors such as condition, specifications and type, container body condition, regional market, brand quality, and seasonal supply and demand.

Condition is the core variable affecting price:
Container houses that are 30% new or less are priced approximately between 1,000 and 3,500 RMB. These containers show significant signs of use, with possible multiple instances of rust, deformation, or repairs, and are only suitable for short-term storage scenarios. Those that are 40% to 60% new are priced around 3,500 to 7,500 RMB and are the mainstay of market circulation. Their structures are generally intact and can meet the needs of construction site dormitories and offices after simple maintenance. Container houses that are more than 60% new are priced around 5,500 RMB or higher (possibly exceeding 8,000 RMB). These containers are well-maintained, with slight rust, good door and window sealing, and are close to being brand new, allowing for direct use or modification.

Specifications and type affect the pricing system:
Ordinary residential container houses are the mainstream. If they involve shipping dry containers or refrigerated containers, the price differences are significant. For example, second-hand refrigerated containers are much more expensive than dry containers due to their technical complexity and material specificity.

Container body condition directly determines valuation:
Rust (especially in corners and bottoms), damage (dents, cracks), the number of patches, as well as the integrity of the floor and walls, and sealing and waterproofing performance, all affect the price. For example, if the bottom of the container body is severely rusted or has structural cracks, the price may drop significantly.

Regional market is related to logistics costs:
Coastal port cities (such as Shanghai and Guangzhou) generally have more competitive prices due to abundant supply and frequent transactions, but they may be 20%-30% higher than in inland areas, mainly due to differences in logistics costs. For example, inland areas may incur higher freight charges due to longer transportation distances.

Brand and quality enhance residual value:
Well-known brands or container bodies with excellent manufacturing craftsmanship have higher durability and residual value even if they are of the same condition. For example, container bodies made of high-strength steel structures or high-quality sandwich panels may be 10%-20% more expensive than ordinary brands.

Seasonal supply and demand affect short-term prices:
During the peak season of the construction industry or when projects are concentrated in specific regions, increased demand may drive up prices. For example, during the spring construction boom, prices for second-hand container houses may rise by 5%-15% due to short-term supply and demand imbalances.
