How Do Mobile Toilets in Scenic Areas Discharge?

Admin October 08, 2026

There are mainly six types of discharge methods for mobile toilets in scenic areas: direct discharge, fecal storage tank, ecological treatment, evaporation, vacuum sewage system, and packing method.

Direct discharge is suitable for scenic areas with a well-established sewage pipe network system nearby. It connects the sewage to the scenic area's sewage pipe network through dedicated pipes and then discharges it into the municipal sewage treatment system for centralized treatment. This method has low construction and operating costs and is simple to operate, but it relies on the sewage pipe network. If the network is blocked or poorly maintained, it will affect usage.

The fecal storage tank method involves setting up a fecal storage tank at the bottom of the mobile toilet to temporarily store feces and sewage. When the tank is nearly full, a professional suction truck regularly sucks out the feces and sewage and transports them to a designated sewage treatment plant or disposal site for treatment. The fecal storage tank is made of high-strength, corrosion-resistant materials and has good sealing properties to prevent sewage leakage and contamination of the surrounding soil and water sources.

Ecological treatment includes microbial degradation and composting. Microbial degradation uses specific microbial communities to decompose and transform organic matter in feces and sewage in aerobic or anaerobic environments, purifying the sewage. Some of the treated reclaimed water can be used for secondary purposes such as toilet flushing. This method is suitable for places with difficult water access and high environmental protection requirements, but the treatment effect is affected by temperature, and it takes time for the microorganisms to adapt to the environment. Composting involves mixing feces with biodegradable organic waste and composting it under suitable conditions to eventually convert it into organic fertilizer, achieving resource recycling.

The evaporation method is suitable for scenic areas with scarce water resources or special environments. It evaporates the water in the sewage through heating or natural evaporation, and the remaining solid substances are regularly cleaned up, effectively reducing sewage discharge.

The vacuum sewage system uses the principle of negative pressure to suck sewage and waste into a collection container through a vacuum pump. It is efficient and uses a small amount of water, effectively preventing sewage leakage and odor diffusion. It is suitable for places with a high density of people and strict hygiene requirements, but the equipment cost is high, the operating energy consumption is large, and the maintenance technical requirements are high.

The packing method is suitable for areas with a large flow of people but where frequent cleaning is inconvenient. Feces are compressed into blocks and stored in the toilet tank, and sewage is discharged through drainage pipes. This method can reduce odors and is convenient for transportation and treatment, but the equipment cost is high, and packing materials need to be regularly replenished.
