Prefabricated Houses for Rural Self-Building
There have been various practices and relevant technical specifications for prefabricated houses in rural self-building, which offer certain advantages in terms of construction speed, cost, and structure, and have witnessed rapid development in overseas markets.

Practices of Rural Prefabricated Houses in China
There have been numerous successful application cases of rural prefabricated houses in China. The prefabricated houses in Kaifeng, Henan, adopt a full reinforced concrete structure, which is extremely sturdy and durable with a warranty period of up to 70 years. Their construction speed is extremely fast, with the fastest construction time being only 4 hours, and the cost is relatively low. Additionally, there are rural self-built houses assembled from prefabricated components, with the main structure taking only 14 days to build. They use sole plates to fix foundation piles weighing 5 tons, providing a stable foundation for the houses. The rapid connection between beams is achieved through the use of mortise-and-tenon joints, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern prefabrication technology to improve construction efficiency. Finally, grouting is applied to the gaps between components to enhance the overall integrity and airtightness of the houses.
Relevant Technical Guidelines in China
Shandong has issued the "Technical Guidelines for the Construction of Prefabricated Rural Houses in Shandong Province," providing detailed specifications for the construction of prefabricated rural houses. The guidelines define prefabricated rural houses as rural residential houses assembled on-site from components prefabricated in whole or in part in factories. In terms of structural systems, they include options such as prefabricated concrete shear wall structural systems, offering multiple choices for the structural safety of houses. Regarding materials, they emphasize adapting measures to local conditions and using locally available green and economical building materials, reducing costs while meeting environmental requirements. Design should respect farmers' needs for comfortable living, reflect regional characteristics, and consider age-friendly design to meet the needs of the aging rural population. In terms of construction, it is advisable to be organized by professional teams or trained rural individual builders, with construction organization plans and schemes formulated to ensure construction quality and safety.
Development in Overseas Markets
Prefabricated houses have also seen certain development in overseas markets. Factories in the Pearl River Delta region dismantle reinforced concrete houses into modules, which are then mass-produced on assembly lines and packaged for shipment abroad. After assembly on-site, they are ready for occupancy, with a set costing around 200,000 RMB. In the first quarter of this year, China's export growth rate of prefabricated buildings reached as high as 45%, indicating recognition and increasing demand for Chinese prefabricated houses in overseas markets.
