Prefabricated Components for Rural Self-Built House Roofs
Prefabricated components can be used for the roofs of rural self-built houses, but their current usage is limited and they have certain drawbacks.

Types and Prices of Prefabricated Components
Common types of prefabricated components suitable for rural self-built house roofs include prefabricated hollow floor slabs. The prices of prefabricated components vary significantly depending on specifications, materials, and manufacturers. Common prices in the market include 15.8 yuan, 16.8 yuan, 18 yuan, 24 yuan, 30 yuan, 31.35 yuan, 40 yuan, 42 yuan, 48 yuan, 55 yuan, 100 yuan, etc. When selecting prefabricated components, it is necessary to comprehensively consider various factors such as the house's design requirements, budget, and actual needs.
Drawbacks of Using Prefabricated Components for Roofs
- Insufficient Integrity and Stability: Prefabricated components are manufactured in advance in factories, and their materials differ from those of cast-in-place concrete roofs. They are not an integral structure with the roof and cannot provide the same level of tensile and stabilizing effects as cast-in-place roofs. In the event of geological disasters such as earthquakes, prefabricated component roofs are more prone to danger compared to cast-in-place roofs, potentially leading to damage or even collapse of the house structure.
- Prone to Leakage: Prefabricated components are installed by piecing them together, resulting in joints in between. Since these joints are not an integral part of the original prefabricated components, they are susceptible to developing gaps over time due to factors such as wind, sun, rain, and temperature changes, leading to leakage issues.
- Cracks Due to Foundation Settlement: Over time, a house may experience foundation settlement. Due to the poor integrity of prefabricated component roofs, they cannot adapt well to such changes when the foundation settles, making them prone to developing cracks, which further affects the safety and functionality of the house.
Given these drawbacks, the usage of prefabricated components in rural self-built houses is now limited, and more people are opting for other safer and more reliable roof structures such as cast-in-place roofs.
