Rural Prefabricated Roof House with Windows
Admin September 18, 2026
For adding windows to rural prefabricated roof houses, the following methods can be referred to. It is necessary to select an appropriate plan according to needs and strictly follow safety regulations:

I. Basic Window-Adding Plan (Taking Skylights as an Example)
Material Selection
Give priority to tempered glass, whose impact resistance is 3-5 times that of ordinary glass. Even if it breaks, it will form blunt-angled particles, reducing the risk of high-altitude falling. If the budget allows, consider double-glazed tempered glass, which combines sound insulation and heat insulation properties.Location Planning
- Avoid structural components such as roof beams and load-bearing columns to prevent damaging the overall stability of the house.
- Give priority to open areas such as living rooms and stairwells to ensure lighting efficiency.
- Use a metal detector to assist in positioning and avoid accidentally cutting steel bars.
Construction Process
- Cutting the Floor Slab: Have professionals use a water jet or diamond wire saw for cutting. Protective supports need to be erected below and dust-proof cloth laid.
- Installing the Steel Frame: Customize a galvanized steel frame according to the size of the skylight and fix it to the concrete structure with chemical anchors. The bearing capacity needs to be verified by a structural engineer.
- Glass Installation: Adopt a dry installation process, use structural adhesive to fix the glass, and install a 304 stainless steel protective net at the bottom (grid spacing ≤ 50mm).
- Waterproofing Treatment: Fill the gaps with polyurethane foam, apply a 2mm thick non-curing rubber asphalt waterproof coating on the outer layer, and cover it with a 1.5mm thick TPO waterproof membrane.
II. Special Attic Lighting Plan
Dormer Windows
- Suitable for brick-concrete structure houses, requiring the re-construction of walls and the setting of concrete ring beams.
- Construction process: Submit the design drawing to the housing and construction department for approval → Foundation excavation → Brick wall construction → Installation of wooden window frames → Internal and external wall insulation treatment (rock wool board thickness ≥ 50mm) → Restoration of the roof waterproof layer.
- Key Points: Wooden components need to be anti-corrosion treated, and elastic sealant should be used at the connection between the window frame and the wall.
Roof Skylights
- Advantages: Consumables are reduced by 60%-70%, installation time is shortened to 2-4 hours, and lighting efficiency is increased by 50%.
- Installation Points:
- Reserve at least 50mm of structural allowance when cutting rafters.
- Use a special waterproof board (such as EPDM rubber board) for hot-melt welding with the roofing material.
- The angle between the window frame and the roof should be ≥ 5° to ensure smooth drainage.
- Applicable Scenarios: Lightweight structures such as metal roofs and asphalt shingle roofs.
III. Safety Precautions
- Before construction, confirm the structural type of the house. The opening area of a prefabricated slab house should not exceed 15% of the slab area.
- All metal components need to be hot-dip galvanized, with an anti-corrosion life of no less than 25 years.
- After installation, conduct a water spraying test (lasting for 2 hours) and check for no leakage before acceptance.
- Regularly check the rust condition of the protective net and replace the structural adhesive every 5 years.
