Simple Construction of Rural Mobile Toilets
Admin October 02, 2026
There are three simple methods for constructing rural mobile toilets: using water storage tanks, plastic buckets, or color-steel plate frames. The specific steps are as follows:

I. Water Storage Tank Modification Method
- Basic Structure Construction: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of the pallet for easy mobility. Place the recycled water storage tank on the pallet and use an angle grinder to cut along the top marking line to remove the top of the tank, creating an opening structure.
- Combination and Fixation: Stack two water storage tanks with open tops and fix the outer frame with self-tapping screws. Cut a rectangular opening on the side of the tank as the doorway, ensuring the size is suitable for people to enter and exit.
- Internal Facility Installation: Drill a hole in the floor of the tank, insert an elbow, and connect a sealed water pipe. Install a toilet and fix it in place. Fix the water pipe at the wall clips, install a faucet, connect a pipe cap below it, and attach a drain pipe outlet to the pipe cap. Use a stainless steel basin to make a hand-washing basin and fix it above the pipe cap.
- Detail Refinement: Connect the water inlet pipe of the toilet tank and the shower hose, install the shower bracket and toilet seat. Make a door using wooden boards and hinges and install a door handle to ensure smooth opening and closing.
II. Plastic Bucket Modification Method
- Bucket Body Treatment: Cut the bucket at the one-third mark and install a wheel device at the bottom. Hammer in wooden strips to raise the height of the bucket body, cut two slits as the doorway, and reinforce the door frame with synthetic wooden boards.
- Top Covering: Place iron sheets in the middle of the raised wooden strips and cover the top with a cut plastic bucket. Overlap the connection points of the iron sheets multiple times to prevent peeping. After applying anti-corrosion paint to the wooden strips, use the remaining wooden floorboards to overlap and screw them to make a door. Install hinges and test the opening and closing.
- Drainage and Water Storage System: Drill holes to install drainage holes. Modify a large trash can into a water storage tank and drill holes at the bottom to install water pipe connectors. Use PVC pipes to make a showerhead, connect the water pipes with strong glue, and connect the main water pipe to a three-way valve to supply water to the hand-washing basin and shower separately.
- Sealing and Fixation: After installing the toilet, fill the bottom gap with epoxy resin glue to prevent leakage.
III. Color-Steel Plate Frame Method
- Main Frame Assembly: Use standardized color-steel plates for splicing, with a uniform height, and fix them with metal locks. Fill the internal夹层 (interlayer) with foam material and process the top and edges with color-steel edge-wrapping technology.
- Excrement Collection System: Install a closed-type excrement storage tank or a detachable fecal bucket at the bottom for easy cleaning. Ensure the ground is level before installation. For soft ground, lay a damp-proof pad or stone slabs.
- Sealing Inspection: Fix the plates in the order specified in the instructions, focusing on checking the sealing of the metal locks and joints to prevent odor leakage.
Precautions:
- Ensure the cutting surfaces of the water storage tanks and plastic buckets are smooth to avoid scratches.
- Choose corrosion-resistant materials for the color-steel plate frame to extend its service life.
- Seal all water pipe connections to prevent water leakage.
- Regularly clean the excrement from the mobile toilet after use to maintain hygiene.
