Rural Container House Construction

Admin September 15, 2026

In rural container house construction, it is crucial to focus on key aspects such as structural selection, foundation treatment, installation and reinforcement, as well as thermal insulation and waterproofing. The specific construction points are as follows:

1. Structural Type Selection

Container houses come in two main structural types: welded integral containers and bolt-connected modular containers. Welded integral containers are fully welded in the factory, with roof loads transferred through side wall columns to the bottom sill, and then evenly distributed to the ground. They have strong resistance to deformation and are suitable for frequent lifting and relocation. Bolt-connected modular containers use standard panels connected by bolts, with multiple connection nodes along the load path. The tightness of these nodes directly affects the overall stability. When purchasing, it is necessary to check the steel wall thickness of the columns and bottom sill, with common specifications ranging from 1.5mm to 3mm. Thicker walls provide greater load-bearing redundancy but also increase the self-weight.

2. Foundation Treatment

The bottom sill of container houses is usually made of I-beams or channel steel, with limited contact area with the ground. If placed directly on soft soil, local pressure can cause uneven settlement of the container, leading to deformation of doors and windows and cracks in the walls. The correct approach is to clear the ground of loose soil and debris, compact the original soil layer to ensure foundation flatness, pre-embed drainage pipes to avoid future water accumulation issues, and construct concrete piers for long-term outdoor use to enhance wind and earthquake resistance.

3. Installation and Reinforcement

During the installation of container houses, it is necessary to plan the lifting points in advance to avoid later tilting. Reinforcement measures include using steel frames to reinforce corners, enhancing structural stability; constructing concrete piers at the bottom to increase load-bearing capacity; and combining with anti-corrosion wood exterior wall treatment in outdoor scenarios to improve durability. For example, a mobile guard booth produced by a manufacturer in Guangzhou adopts a modular design, equipped with doors, windows, and electrical circuit预留口 (reserved ports). Only simple wiring and fixation are required on-site, and two workers can complete the installation in half a day, with spacious space and good sealing performance.

4. Thermal Insulation and Waterproofing

The thermal insulation performance of container houses directly affects the living experience. The improvement plan is to select calcium silicate board thermal insulation integrated panels, which incorporate a 3cm thermal insulation layer and a 1cm decorative layer on the outside, integrating thermal insulation, energy efficiency, waterproofing, and decoration. Combined with high-performance energy-saving doors and windows and roof thermal insulation treatment, the overall building energy efficiency rate can exceed 65%, achieving a warm winter and cool summer, as well as sound insulation and noise reduction effects. In addition, sound insulation materials should be filled after the containers are positioned and combined, and the second-floor thermal insulation and waterproofing construction should be completed before lifting to avoid leakage issues.
