Rental Prices for Residential Container Houses

Admin September 17, 2026

The rental prices for residential container houses vary based on size, configuration, region, and rental method, with monthly rental prices ranging from 90 yuan to over 210 yuan, and daily rental prices ranging from 3 yuan to over 8 yuan, with higher prices in some regions or for special configurations.

Monthly Rental Prices

Monthly rental prices are primarily influenced by the size of the container. The smallest 3m x 3m container (approximately 9 square meters) rents for about 90 yuan per month, suitable for temporary single-person accommodation or storage; the most common 3m x 6m standard container (approximately 18 square meters) rents for about 180 yuan per month, meeting the accommodation needs of 2-3 people; the 3m x 7m container with a canopy or converted into a double-story structure rents for about 210 yuan per month, suitable for scenarios with higher space or functional requirements.

Configuration differences further affect prices. Air conditioning and insulation layers incur additional charges, with air conditioning adding 40-50 yuan per month; insulation layer costs vary based on materials and craftsmanship and need to be negotiated with the merchant.

Daily Rental Prices

Daily rental prices are calculated based on the container's area and configuration. The small container (9 square meters) rents for 3 yuan per day, the standard 6m-long container (18 square meters) rents for 6 yuan per day; if equipped with air conditioning or glass windows, an additional 2 yuan per day is required. Some merchants offer rental services at 6 yuan per day (such as brands like Qingdao Xinrong Lvjian in Shandong and Jianxin in Xi'an, Shaanxi), but note that short-term rentals may result in lower cost-effectiveness due to transportation and deposit costs.

Regional Differences

First-tier cities (such as Beijing and Shanghai) have higher rental prices due to higher land and operational costs, generally 20-30 yuan more expensive than second- and third-tier cities. For example, the monthly rent for the same-sized container in Beijing may reach 200-240 yuan, while in second- and third-tier cities, it may remain at 150-180 yuan.

Other Fees

  1. Deposit: Usually starts at 3000 yuan, with the specific amount negotiated with the merchant, and is refunded after deducting damage costs upon return.
  2. Transportation Fee: Calculated per kilometer, with a charge of 1-3 yuan per kilometer, with costs increasing with distance.
  3. Special Pricing Methods: Some merchants offer rental services priced per square meter (such as 600 yuan/square meter by Hebei Langfang Zhongding Construction), suitable for large-area or customized demand scenarios.

Precautions

Short-term rentals (such as daily rentals) may result in higher daily costs due to the amortization of transportation and deposit costs, so it is advisable to choose a rental method based on the usage cycle; configuration upgrades (such as air conditioning, insulation layers) will significantly increase total costs, so needs should be clarified in advance.
