Renovation: Movable Toilet Position
During renovation, the position of the toilet in the bathroom can be moved, but appropriate methods should be selected according to the situation and relevant issues should be noted.

For small-distance relocation (10 - 15 centimeters), a toilet offset connector can be used. It is low-cost and easy to install, but attention should be paid to the pipe slope. For sunken bathrooms, due to the presence of a backfill layer, modifications are relatively easier.
If the relocation distance exceeds 15 centimeters, there are several common methods:
- Raising the floor: Build a new platform to bury the pipes. The pipe diameter should be at least 110 millimeters, and the slope should be maintained between 2% and 3%. However, this will sacrifice some floor height. Alternatively, a base platform with a height of 180 - 200 millimeters can be built to pre-bury the sewage pipes. This method is suitable for longer relocation distances, but it affects aesthetics and usability.
- Wall-mounted drainage: The pipes run along the wall without raising the floor, suitable for relocation distances of more than 50 centimeters. The floor-mounted drainage can also be changed to wall-mounted drainage, allowing the pipes to run along the wall without the need to raise the floor and making it easy to operate.
- Modifying pipes downstairs: It is necessary to obtain the consent of the neighbors and conduct a new waterproofing test to ensure that there will be no leakage or other impacts on the downstairs area.
Sunken bathrooms have unique advantages. The pipes can be directly modified within the backfill layer, making modifications more flexible. Compared with non-sunken bathrooms, there are fewer restrictions on relocation operations.
However, it should be noted that regardless of the method used, it is best not to move the toilet position unless absolutely necessary. Because a relocation distance of more than 15 centimeters or the use of elbows will increase the risk of pipe blockage. Once blocked, it will not only affect normal use but also be troublesome to handle, possibly requiring professional unclogging tools or even the removal of part of the renovation for repair. Therefore, before relocating the toilet, various factors should be fully considered, and the pros and cons should be weighed before making a decision.
