Relocation of Toilet Position at Home

Admin September 21, 2026

Relocating the toilet position at home, also known as toilet displacement, mainly involves displacement methods, installation requirements, and other considerations, as detailed below:

Displacement Methods

  • Using a Displacement Connector: A toilet displacement connector is a pipe fitting used to solve the problem of misalignment between the reserved sewage outlet in the bathroom and the sewage outlet of the toilet. It can change the position of the sewage outlet, either forward/backward or left/right. The common displacement distance ranges from 5 to 10 centimeters, and in special cases, it can reach up to 15 centimeters. However, it is generally not recommended to exceed 15 centimeters, as this may affect drainage efficiency.
  • Floor Displacement: If floor displacement is chosen, special attention must be paid to the slope setting, which should generally be maintained at 2% to 3% to ensure smooth drainage and prevent future blockages.
  • Wall Displacement: Wall displacement requires the use of a specialized displacement connector, and the height calculation must be precise. Installing the connector too high will make the toilet unstable when seated, while installing it too low will affect drainage performance.

Installation Requirements

The installation of a displacement connector should be carried out before laying floor tiles. During construction, it may be necessary to lower or raise the floor according to the actual situation to ensure that the displacement connector is installed securely and meets drainage requirements.

Other Considerations

  • Blockage Risk: Using a displacement connector may increase the risk of toilet blockages. Due to the increase in pipe bends and changes in air pressure, it can also easily cause sewage backflow, affecting flushing performance. Therefore, when choosing a displacement connector, priority should be given to products with reliable quality and reasonable design.
  • Spatial Distance: The distance between the displaced toilet and the wall should be reasonably planned. Being too close will cause inconvenience in use, and a distance of 30 to 40 centimeters is more appropriate for comfortable use.
  • Waterproofing: The displaced area must be re-waterproofed to prevent water from seeping into the lower floors, causing unnecessary trouble and losses. Waterproofing construction should be carried out strictly in accordance with regulations to ensure reliable waterproofing performance.
