Rear-Row Mobile Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

There are three main types of implementations for rear-row mobile toilets: patented designs for vehicle-mounted toilets, modifications of rear-row squat toilets, and pollution cases caused by improper use. Details are as follows:

I. Patented Designs for Vehicle-Mounted Toilets Seres has introduced patented technology for vehicle-mounted toilets, with the core design hiding the squat toilet beneath the rear seats and using a sliding rail structure for quick deployment and retraction. This solution is directly integrated into the vehicle's interior space, eliminating the need for additional plumbing or water tank modifications. When in use, simply pull out the sliding rail to create a temporary toilet area. Such designs are primarily aimed at long-distance self-driving scenarios, addressing emergency needs through space reuse. However, they require sufficient interior height and sliding rail installation conditions in the vehicle, as well as a compact sewage treatment device to prevent odor spread. Currently, this technology is still in the patent stage and has not yet resulted in large-scale commercial products.

II. Modifications of Rear-Row Squat Toilets There are various rear-row squat toilet products on the market, primarily made of ceramic and stainless steel, with significant functional differences:

  1. Basic Ceramic Squat Toilet: Priced at approximately 45 yuan each, it requires an external water tank for use. Installation involves drilling holes in the vehicle's rear floor and connecting to drainage pipes, suitable for fixed modifications but with a risk of leakage and higher maintenance costs.
  2. Stainless Steel Foam Squat Toilet: Priced at around 1,200 yuan each, it uses foam technology for odor control, with a built-in small water tank and flush button, reducing the need for plumbing modifications. However, it requires regular replenishment of foam liquid, and stainless steel is prone to condensation in low-temperature environments.
  3. High-End Custom Stainless Steel Squat Toilet: Priced at up to 3,500 yuan each, it supports additional features such as foot-pedal flushing and smart sensors, typically equipped with a sealed sewage tank that can operate independently of the vehicle's drainage system. However, it occupies more space and requires custom installation brackets. Modifications of such products should consider vehicle load-bearing capacity, drainage slope, and sealing, and it is recommended to have them performed by professional institutions to avoid structural damage.

III. Pollution Cases Caused by Improper Use There have been incidents where passengers have defecated on the rear seats of ride-hailing vehicles, causing severe pollution to the seats and floor, with drivers having to bear hundreds of yuan in cleaning costs and seat replacement expenses. Such events highlight loopholes in toilet management in mobile spaces, emphasizing the need to mitigate risks through technological means (such as vehicle-mounted toilets) or behavioral norms (such as prohibiting defecation in vehicles). Currently, some ride-hailing platforms require vehicles to be equipped with emergency items such as disposable vomit bags, but a systematic solution has yet to be formed.
