Ratio of Mobile Toilets to Population
Admin October 12, 2026
The ratio of mobile toilets to population varies depending on the scale of the event, the setting, and usage requirements, necessitating flexible configuration based on specific circumstances.

I. Classification by Event Scale
Small Events (Under 100 People)
- Configuration Standard: Allocate 1-2 mobile toilets per 50 people.
- Under 50 people: One single-occupancy toilet suffices.
- 50-100 people: It is recommended to configure 2 single-occupancy toilets or 1 double-occupancy toilet, with an additional spare toilet reserved for emergencies (such as equipment failure or a sudden increase in the number of people).
- Applicable Scenarios: Small gatherings, community events, family dinners, etc.
- Configuration Standard: Allocate 1-2 mobile toilets per 50 people.
Medium Events (100-500 People)
- Configuration Standard: Allocate 2-3 toilets per 100 people.
- For a 200-person event: It is recommended to have 2 double-occupancy toilets + 1 single-occupancy toilet.
- For events with over 300 people: The number of toilets should be increased to 4-5, with a recommended male-to-female toilet ratio of 1:1.5, and include 1 accessible toilet (for the convenience of disabled individuals or those with mobility issues).
- Applicable Scenarios: Corporate annual meetings, small exhibitions, academic seminars, etc.
- Configuration Standard: Allocate 2-3 toilets per 100 people.
Large Events (Over 500 People)
- Configuration Standard: Allocate 3-5 mobile toilets per 100 people.
- For a 1000-person event: It is recommended to have 3 double-occupancy toilets + 3 single-occupancy toilets + 1 accessible toilet, with additional temporary handwashing stations added during peak times to alleviate queuing pressure.
- Applicable Scenarios: Music festivals, sports events, large exhibitions, etc.
- Configuration Standard: Allocate 3-5 mobile toilets per 100 people.
II. Classification by Usage Scenario
General Standards for Outdoor Events
- Large events (such as music festivals, sports events): Set up 1 toilet per 50-70 people.
- Small or regular events: Configure 1 toilet per 100 people as a starting standard.
Special Scenarios
- Construction sites, scenic spots, and other long-term usage scenarios: Allocate 1 toilet per 30-50 people, with regular maintenance required to ensure hygiene conditions.
- Campgrounds: Allocate 1 toilet per 20 people, with shower rooms recommended to enhance the user experience, and reserve 10% spare capacity to cope with equipment failure or a sudden increase in the number of people.
III. Optimization of Male-to-Female Toilet Ratios
- Basic Ratio: The male-to-female toilet ratio should not be lower than 1:1.5, with a strong recommendation to reach 1:2.
- Large or Crowded Events: The ratio of female toilets to male toilets can be increased to 3:2 (i.e., 1.5:1).
- Areas with Extremely High Foot Traffic: It is recommended that the ratio of female toilets to male toilets reach 2:1 to reduce queuing time for women.
Summary: The configuration of mobile toilets should comprehensively consider the scale of the event, usage scenarios, and gender requirements. By scientifically planning the number and ratio of toilets, usage efficiency can be effectively improved, and user experience can be ensured.
