Providing Qatar Container Houses
The container houses provided during the Qatar World Cup mainly came from enterprises in Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces in China, with a total of over 10,000 sets. Among them, about 6,000 sets were used in the Free Zone Fan Village. Each container house has an area of approximately 16 square meters, is fully equipped inside, and costs 200 US dollars per night.

Source and Quantity of Container Houses
During the Qatar World Cup, to meet the accommodation needs of a large number of fans, the organizers adopted container houses as a temporary accommodation solution. These container houses mainly came from enterprises in Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces in China, with a total of over 10,000 sets. Among them, the Free Zone Fan Village is the largest fan village built by Qatar for the World Cup, consisting of 6,000 container-style houses and capable of accommodating 12,000 fans simultaneously.
Specifications and Facilities of Container Houses
Each container room has an area of approximately 16 square meters and is usually equipped with two single beds (about 1.2 meters wide), bedside tables, wardrobes, coffee tables, seats, and an independent bathroom (including a toilet and shower facilities). The rooms are also equipped with fans or air conditioners for cooling, and some rooms are equipped with small refrigerators and tea break areas. These facilities not only provide basic accommodation functions but also ensure the living comfort of fans.
Price and Cost-effectiveness of Container Houses
According to the official price, the most expensive of these container houses costs 200 US dollars per night, which is more than 1,400 yuan. From the perspective of size and specific accommodation environment, the container houses built by the Qatar authorities are not very cost-effective. However, considering that this is a short-term investment with short-term returns and there are certain comprehensive construction costs, this price is relatively reasonable during the competition period. In addition, compared to the prices of hotels in Qatar, which range from 500 US dollars to 5,000 US dollars per night, container houses are already an economical accommodation option.
Reuse of Container Houses
It is worth mentioning that after the World Cup, these container houses were not discarded. Qatar transported some of the container houses to the earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey and Syria to provide shelters for the victims. After modification, each container can accommodate 4 people and is equipped with a kitchen and bathroom, demonstrating the flexibility and reuse value of container houses.
