Mobile Toilets in Parks of Pudong New Area

Admin October 19, 2026

Pudong New Area has implemented a series of measures regarding mobile toilets in parks, including renovation projects, digital service enhancements, and 24-hour open services.

I. Mobile Toilet Renovation Projects
In 2024, Pudong New Area launched a mobile toilet renovation project, procuring and updating seven mobile toilets located at Puyi Road-Pu'ao Road, Yongtai Road Bus Stop 572, and Dongsan Street-Jiaonan Road, among others. The new toilets feature separate male and female restrooms, as well as dedicated third restrooms and barrier-free access to meet the needs of diverse groups. Additionally, seven renovated toilets at Haitong Road-Meihua Road, Century Avenue-Weifang Road, and Zhangyang Road-Miaopu Road emphasize harmony between appearance and functionality: they adopt soft color tones to enhance visual comfort, add barrier-free access and stainless steel handrails for mobility convenience, and are equipped with comprehensive facilities, including 'age-friendly and child-friendly restrooms' to optimize the experience for special groups.

II. Digital Service Enhancements
To address the challenge of 'difficulty in finding toilets' for citizens and tourists in parks, the park management authority in Pudong New Area introduced the 'Cloud PARK21' park operation mini-program. This program integrates functions such as park navigation and convenience services, allowing users to quickly locate public toilets and other facilities within the park via their mobile phones, reducing search time and enhancing touring efficiency. This initiative embodies the concept of 'smart park' construction, optimizing public service provision through digital means.

III. 24-Hour Open Services
In response to citizens' nighttime toilet needs, Pudong New Area developed a diversified open plan through surveys and research: including keeping entire toilets open 24 hours, opening certain stalls (positions) at night, and temporarily adding mobile toilets at night, among other flexible models. Currently, 392 public toilets across the district are open 24 hours, covering major parks and public areas, effectively alleviating nighttime toilet pressure and demonstrating the humanization and refinement of public services.

In summary, through hardware upgrades, digital empowerment, and service model innovation, Pudong New Area has constructed a park mobile toilet service system that covers all times and groups, providing citizens with a more convenient, comfortable, and safe toilet environment.
