Pudong Mobile Toilet
Pudong mobile toilets have shown significant features and developments in terms of upgrades, design, project implementation, and user experience.

Upgrade Situation: In recent years, the Pudong New Area has actively promoted the upgrading of mobile public toilets. Seven mobile public toilets, including those on Haitong Road and Meihua Road, Century Avenue and Weifang Road, and Zhangyang Road and Miaopu Road, have been renovated. Additionally, plans are in place to purchase and upgrade another seven mobile public toilets, such as those at No. 805 Gaoxiang Road and Cailun Road and Huatuo Road, in 2026, continuously optimizing the layout and facilities of mobile public toilets.
Design Features:
- Harmonious and Aesthetic Design: The upgraded mobile public toilets feature soft color palettes such as light beige and light brown as the base, complemented by dark blue borders and accents. This design is not only practical but also blends well with the surrounding environment, facilitating easy identification and location by the public. In high-traffic areas, barrier-free access and stainless steel handrails have been added to enhance convenience and safety.
- Detailed Convenience Design: Standard toilet compartments are fully equipped with simple and bright decor. The "elderly- and child-friendly toilet compartments" take into account the needs of special groups, with auxiliary handrails installed beside toilets to ensure smooth wheelchair access. The children's toilet area features exclusive adaptive designs, and electronic screens on toilet compartment doors display real-time usage status. The newly purchased and upgraded mobile public toilets have separate male and female compartments set up in proportion, along with dedicated third toilets and barrier-free access to meet the needs of different groups.
- Focus on Sanitation Worker Care: Some mobile public toilets have added "sanitation worker stations," such as the one at the intersection of Century Avenue and Weifang Road, which is equipped with facilities like refrigerators, showers, microwaves, and charging ports to provide rest and replenishment for sanitation workers. Plans are also in place to expand the coverage of these "sanitation worker stations" in the future.
Project Implementation: For the 2026 mobile toilet upgrade project in the Pudong New Area, Tongli Environmental Protection Technology Nantong Co., Ltd. was the winning bidder, with a bid amount of 2,456,000.00 yuan for the purchase of seven toilets at a unit price of 350,857.00 yuan. The total project investment is 2.485 million yuan, with 1.9 million yuan allocated in 2026 and the shortfall to be included in the 2027 departmental budget.
User Experience: Pudong mobile toilets have received positive feedback. A foreigner who stumbled upon an "unknown" mobile toilet in Shanghai praised its cleanliness and the presence of music, exclaiming "I love China," highlighting its advantages in terms of hygiene and ambiance.
