Pudong Container House
Pudong container houses are mainly divided into two categories: creative architecture and temporary housing. The former is characterized by the transformation of discarded containers, while the latter takes standardized residential containers as the mainstream, both serving different scenario needs.

I. Creative Architecture Category: Characteristic Buildings Transformed from Discarded Containers
There used to be a three-story building stacked from more than ten discarded containers on Dukou Road, Sanlin Town, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, which is a typical representative of such houses. This building is stacked with containers of different colors. The ground floor is locked, and the second and third floors store potted plants and have long been used as flower houses. Its facade hangs the doorplate "No. 224 (Temporary), Shenjia Team, Guijing Village" and has an advertisement board for the "Container Agricultural Utilization Workshop". According to the "Shanghai Door and Number Management Measures", such temporary doorplates are approved and established by the police station and are only used for real-person population management, not involving the legality of the building or housing property rights. The doorplate will be automatically canceled after the building is demolished. Although this building has existed for a long time, it has been idle recently. Its existence reflects more of a creative reuse of space rather than traditional residential or commercial purposes.
II. Temporary Housing Category: Wide Application of Standardized Residential Containers
There are a large number of temporary houses in Pudong New Area that use standardized residential containers as carriers and are widely used in scenarios such as construction sites, disaster relief settlements, and epidemic prevention quarantine. Such houses take steel container bodies as basic units and integrate functions such as doors, windows, circuits, and insulation layers. They have the characteristics of high factory prefabrication rates, strong component versatility, whole-container transportation, and on-site hoisting and positioning. For example, companies such as Shanghai Delais Activity Room Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Yikai Steel Structure Engineering Co., Ltd. provide a variety of products including container dormitories, offices, and shops, and support personalized customization. These houses are spacious and bright inside and can be equipped with air conditioners, beds, and other facilities to meet temporary living needs. At the same time, they have reliable structures, convenient hoisting, and are environmentally friendly and cost-effective, meeting the technical standards for modular facilities at construction sites and the quality acceptance standards for container houses, making them the mainstream choice in the temporary building market.
