Production of Container House Roof Panels
Admin September 17, 2026
The production of container house roof panels requires adherence to key aspects such as structural design, material selection, adaptation to special scenarios, and construction preparation. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Roof Panel Structural Design
- Composite Structural System: The base layer uses the original corrugated steel plate of the container (thickness ≥ 2.0mm), with a thermal insulation layer laid in the middle and a protective decorative layer on the surface. The roof slope is designed at 3%, adopting a single-slope drainage form. The drainage direction is from the middle of the container to the eaves on both sides, with the eaves overhang length controlled within 300mm to ensure drainage efficiency.
- Light Steel Keel Frame: A frame is added above the original roof panel. The main keels use 8# channel steel with a spacing of 500mm, arranged along the length of the container. The secondary keels use 50×30mm square steel tubes with a spacing of 600mm, perpendicular to the main keels. M12 high-strength bolts are used at the joints. The contact surfaces are sandblasted to Sa2.5 grade, and the friction surface anti-slip coefficient is ≥ 0.45 to ensure structural stability.
2. Material Selection and Technical Parameters
- Structural Load-Bearing Layer: Composed of the original container roof panel and the light steel keel frame, the designed load value is 0.7kN/㎡ (including a live load of 0.5kN/㎡ + a dead load of 0.2kN/㎡), meeting daily use requirements.
- Thermal Insulation Layer: 100mm thick rock wool board (density ≥ 120kg/m³) is selected, with a thermal conductivity λ ≤ 0.04W/(m·K) and a combustion performance reaching Class A non-combustible standard, balancing energy efficiency and fire safety.
- Waterproof Protective Layer: 1.5mm thick SBS modified bitumen waterproof membrane is used, covered with a 0.8mm thick YX35-125-750 profiled color steel plate protective layer, forming a double protective barrier.
- Decorative Layer: Depending on requirements, aluminum-plastic panels or anti-corrosion wooden hanging panels can be selected, connected to the protective layer through keel hangers, balancing aesthetics and durability.
3. Special Design for Green Roofs (if applicable)
- Structural Support: Steel beams or wooden frames are added inside the container to transfer the roof weight to the four corner columns. If necessary, an engineer should perform load calculations.
- Roof Layering: From bottom to top, it consists of a waterproof membrane (such as EPDM), a root barrier, a drainage layer (gravel or special mats), a filter fabric, lightweight soil, and a plant layer, ensuring drainage and plant growth requirements.
- Plants and Drainage: Choose cold-resistant, shallow-rooted plants (such as succulents like Sedum or local wildflowers) and set up drainage outlets or channels to prevent waterlogging. Rainwater can also be collected for secondary use.
4. Construction Preparation
- Drawings and Plans: Organize drawing reviews, focusing on checking the roof panel connection joints, drainage slopes, and expansion joint settings. Prepare a special construction plan, simulate the construction process through BIM modeling, and conduct technical disclosures and safety training for construction personnel.
- Sample Verification: Produce a 1:1 sample section to verify the feasibility of the construction process and ensure that all aspects meet the design requirements before full-scale construction.
