Processing Container Modular Housing

Admin September 17, 2026

Processing container modular housing uses containers as basic units, which are combined and assembled to form a modular architectural form. It features flexible design, rapid construction, and relatively low cost.

Processing Foundation: Using containers as basic units, it adopts a steel frame structure. It is assembled by reasonably matching and welding steel plates of different specifications ranging from 1.2 - 6mm after shearing and profiling with section materials. The surface of the container can be sprayed with logos according to customer needs to meet personalized requirements.

Processing Advantages:

  • Flexible Design: It can be customized, with sizes covering standard specifications from 20 feet to 60 feet, adapting to different scenarios.
  • Rapid Construction: The main structure, interior decoration, and equipment pipelines are prefabricated in the factory, and can be quickly assembled on-site like 'building blocks'. For example, in the Papua New Guinea MRDC modular hotel project, the overall construction period was only 7 months, more than half shorter than traditional construction.
  • Lower Cost: Significant savings in labor costs are achieved. Skilled technicians in Europe and the United States have high hourly wages, while the number of on-site personnel for modular construction is small and the construction period is compressed. Lightweight steel structures reduce the consumption of ground materials by 60 - 70%, and standardized cutting losses in the factory are only 3% - 5%, far lower than the 8% - 12% losses on traditional construction sites.
  • Controllable Quality: Factory prefabrication enables standardized quality, with less influence from local labor levels.
  • Movable and Reusable: Modules can be disassembled, moved, and reused, with high mobility.
  • Safe and Durable: It is wind-resistant and earthquake-resistant. The steel plate exterior is corrosion-resistant, acid-resistant, does not rust or crack, and has a service life of over 20 years.
  • Sound and Heat Insulation: It adopts an air-break thermal design, with excellent sound and heat insulation performance.
  • Aesthetic and Diverse: It supports various design styles, with a rich variety of exterior wall patterns and a bright appearance.

Processing Development History: The modification patent was first proposed in 1987. In 2006, the first double-story container house certified by the state was designed. After the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, a container school that could accommodate a thousand people was built. In 2010, China initiated the compilation of technical regulations to promote industry standardization. In 2012, the world's first recyclable container hotel was built.

Application Areas: It is widely used in various fields such as temporary housing, on-site office spaces, emergency shelters, commercial exhibition stands, residences, offices, schools, hospitals, and hotels.

Market Prospects: Driven by China's policies on new building industrialization and green development, this industry has strong competitiveness in the international market with a complete supply chain and innovative designs. In the first quarter of 2026, China's export growth rate of prefabricated buildings reached 45%. In the first four months, the export of 'prefabricated houses' from the Shenzhen port increased by 19.6% year-on-year, with products shipped to more than 150 countries and regions.
