Prefabricated Step Installation for Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The installation methods for prefabricated steps in houses vary depending on the type, mainly divided into three categories: small-component assembly, large and medium-component assembly, and special installation methods (asphalt adhesion method).

Installation of Prefabricated Steps for Small-Component Assembly Reinforced Concrete Stairs

  1. Wall-Bearing Type: The prefabricated step treads are directly placed on the walls on both sides, using a straight or L-shaped cross-section. During installation, attention should be paid to the impact of the central wall on spatial transparency, usually optimized by creating observation openings or partially recessing the wall to improve sightlines and furniture movement paths.
  2. Cantilevered Step Type: One end of the step tread is embedded in the stairwell side wall (wall thickness ≥ 240mm), while the other end is cantilevered, with a cantilever length generally ≤ 1800mm. The step tread adopts an L-shaped ribbed cross-section, with the embedded end requiring a depth of 240mm to ensure structural stability.
  3. Beam-Bearing Type: The step treads are placed on inclined beams to form the stair flight, which are then supported by platform beams fixed to the walls or beams on both sides. The rest platform can use hollow slabs, channel slabs, or small platform slabs, arranged flexibly according to spatial requirements.

Installation of Large and Medium-Component Assembly Reinforced Concrete Stairs

  1. Large-Component Assembly: The stair beams and platforms are prefabricated into a single component (such as a slab cross-section), reducing the variety and quantity of components for easier lifting and construction.
  2. Installation Process:
    • Preparation Stage: Verify the stair number and model, and use a laser level to calibrate the installation position for accuracy.
    • Lifting Stage: Secure both ends of the stair with special fixtures to prevent deformation during lifting.
    • Connection Stage: Fill the reserved holes with grout to achieve a rigid connection with the main structure, eliminating the need for welding or cutting and reducing the risk of open flame operations.

Special Installation Method (Asphalt Adhesion Method)

  1. Tread Processing:
    • Measure the step dimensions and cut the wooden board, with the thickness reflecting the solidity of the material used.
    • Polish the wooden board surface until smooth, and cut a grid pattern on the bottom and create grooves (for asphalt penetration and fixation).
    • Spray clear varnish to enhance gloss and form the final tread.
  2. Adhesive Preparation: Boil block asphalt and add a liquid to enhance adhesion, preparing a special adhesive.
  3. Installation Process:
    • Wet the step surface with water and apply wood glue along the edges to prevent asphalt overflow.
    • Pour hot asphalt and adhere the tread, pressing firmly and placing heavy objects (such as weights) to compact and ensure a strong bond.

Different installation methods should be selected based on the stair type, structural requirements, and construction conditions, strictly following specifications to ensure safety and durability.
