Prefabricated Steel Structure Modular House
A prefabricated steel structure modular house is a building whose main structure is made of steel structural components, prefabricated in a factory, and assembled on-site. It falls under the category of modular construction.

Construction Model and Core Features
Prefabricated steel structure modular houses adhere to the core logic of modular construction: shifting on-site operations in traditional construction methods to factory completion. Their main structures utilize steel columns, steel beams, and other steel structural components, which are prefabricated in the factory and then transported to the construction site for assembly using reliable connection methods such as bolts and welding. This model significantly reduces on-site wet operations (such as concrete pouring), shortens the construction period, and simultaneously reduces the environmental impact.
These buildings are often used in conjunction with steel bar truss floor decks, prefabricated interior and exterior walls, and other components. Steel structures inherently possess the characteristics of being lightweight yet strong, with their weight being only 1/3 to 1/2 of that of traditional concrete structures. This effectively reduces the bearing pressure on the foundation, making them suitable for soft soil foundations or high-rise buildings. Additionally, steel structures have good ductility and plastic deformation capacity, enabling them to absorb energy through deformation under seismic action. Their seismic performance is significantly superior to traditional structures, making them particularly suitable for earthquake-prone areas.
Application Scenarios and Advantages
Prefabricated steel structure modular houses have a wide range of applications, covering both industrial and civil construction fields. In industrial construction, their characteristics of large spans and column-free spaces can meet the demands for spatial flexibility in factories, warehouses, and other facilities. In civil construction, they are commonly used in high-rise residential buildings, commercial complexes, and other scenarios. For example, high-rise steel structure residential buildings can achieve rapid construction through standardized design while reducing construction waste and noise pollution.
Construction efficiency is another major advantage. Factory-prefabricated components can achieve large-scale production with high quality stability. The on-site assembly process is less affected by weather conditions and does not require a large amount of formwork and scaffolding, which can shorten the construction period by more than 30%. Additionally, steel structural components can be recycled, aligning with the concepts of green building and sustainable development.
Evaluation Criteria and Requirements
The evaluation of prefabricated steel structure buildings adopts a quantitative scoring system with a full score of 100 points, consisting of four parts:
- Main Structure: Accounts for the highest proportion, requiring a score of ≥30 points. It mainly assesses the prefabrication ratio of steel structural components and the reliability of connection methods.
- Enclosure Walls and Interior Partitions: Requires a score of ≥10 points, evaluating the thermal insulation, sound insulation performance, and installation convenience of prefabricated wall panels.
- Technological Innovation: Requires a score of ≥5 points, encouraging the adoption of innovative means such as BIM technology and intelligent construction.
- Modularization Rate: Requires a score of ≥50%, meaning that the proportion of prefabricated components in the overall building must reach more than half.
This standard system promotes technological upgrades in the industry and ensures the comprehensive advantages of prefabricated steel structure modular houses in terms of quality, efficiency, and environmental protection.
