Soundproofing Solutions for Prefabricated Slab Houses

Admin September 19, 2026

Soundproofing issues in prefabricated slab houses can be addressed through various methods, with the specific solution depending on the budget, type of noise, and spatial requirements.

1. Basic Soundproofing Techniques
If the budget is limited and basic noise reduction is desired, specific soundproofing techniques can be employed. This approach involves adding soundproofing layers (such as soundproofing mats or acoustic cotton) to the ceiling or walls, reducing noise transmission by approximately 50% while occupying a thickness of no more than 10 centimeters. The principle is to block airborne sound transmission through materials, suitable for isolating common household noises (such as talking or footsteps), with relatively low construction costs and short project durations.

2. Upgraded Soundproofing Solutions
For high-frequency vibration noise (such as heavy objects falling from above or equipment vibrations), shock-absorbing structures are necessary. Installing shock-absorbing springs and polymer damping shock-absorbing adhesives between the ceiling and joists can effectively block solid-borne sound transmission. This technique is commonly used in places like KTVs and recording studios. For household use, note that the cost per square meter may exceed a thousand yuan, and it will occupy 15 centimeters of ceiling height. It is essential to evaluate the impact of reduced space on living experience in advance.

3. Specialized Measures for Specific Noise Sources

  • Traffic/Square Noise: Replace windows with insulated laminated glass (dry-laminated process). The PVB film between the two glass layers can weaken low-frequency noise, and combining it with a casement window design (which has better sealing than sliding windows) enhances noise reduction.
  • Furniture Friction Noise: Install polyurethane shock-absorbing pads on chair legs to reduce harsh sounds caused by contact with the floor.
  • Underfloor Heating Noise: Lay microporous damping soundproofing pads to absorb vibration sounds from pipes through the material's pores.
  • Equipment Vibration: Use floor shock absorbers (such as spring shock absorbers) to isolate vibrations from appliances like washing machines and air conditioning units.

4. Auxiliary Soundproofing Measures
Enhance soundproofing through soft furnishings: Install acoustic soft packs on walls (such as those made of polyester fiber cotton) to absorb some sound waves; thicken bedroom doors and add sealing strips to reduce sound leakage through door gaps; thicken curtains (especially those made of velvet) to block external noise and absorb indoor echoes. These measures are cost-effective and easy to implement, suitable as supplements to comprehensive soundproofing solutions.

Selection Advice: Prioritize addressing the main noise sources (such as replacing soundproof windows or treating equipment vibrations), then combine basic techniques or soft furnishings to enhance the overall effect. If ceiling height allows and the budget is sufficient, the upgraded solution can achieve soundproofing levels close to those of professional venues.
