Renovation of Prefabricated Slab Houses
Admin September 18, 2026
The renovation of prefabricated slab houses can be achieved through structural reinforcement, exterior renovation, and interior space optimization, requiring professional assessment and standardized construction to ensure safety and functional enhancement.

I. Structural Reinforcement: Core Safety Guarantee
- Comprehensive Safety Assessment
Before renovation, it is necessary to inspect the crack width of the prefabricated slabs and their connection status with the ring beams. If the crack width exceeds 0.3 millimeters or the bolt corrosion rate exceeds 30%, special treatment or replacement of the prefabricated slabs is required to avoid structural instability. - Roof Renovation
Remove the original wooden roof and recast a concrete roof to enhance waterproofing performance and structural stability, while providing a foundation for subsequent laying of various roofing materials (such as tiles and metal sheets). - Wall Reinforcement
After removing the exterior wall tiles as a whole, repainting and steel bar planting and grouting are required. Steel bar planting can strengthen the load-bearing capacity of the walls, while grouting improves tensile properties, preventing wall cracking or collapse. - Support System Optimization
Set up steel pipe supports every 1.2 meters along the length of the prefabricated slabs, and use H-shaped steel beam underpinning at key nodes (with a steel beam cross-section of no less than 200*200 millimeters) to disperse loads and avoid local stress concentration. - Slab Joint and Structural Column Treatment
Remove the original filling material from the slab joints, implant No. 6 threaded steel bars, and pour C30 fine aggregate concrete to enhance the connection between the slabs; add structural columns (with a cross-section of 240*240 millimeters) at the four corners of the house, and tie them with No. 6 and No. 8 steel bars and connect them to the floor slab to improve overall seismic performance.
II. Exterior Renovation: Enhancing Visual Appeal and Functionality
- Facade Renovation
Rural prefabricated slab houses can improve their appearance by repainting the exterior walls and replacing doors and windows. For example, enlarging the main door can enhance a sense of grandeur while optimizing ventilation and lighting. - Moisture-Proof Treatment
To address issues of darkness and dampness, renovate the exterior wall materials (such as using waterproof coatings), install new doors and windows (such as broken bridge aluminum windows), and strengthen roof drainage design to reduce rainwater infiltration.
III. Construction Specifications: Ensuring Safety and Efficiency
- Demolition Sequence
Adopt the principle of 'middle first, then sides' to maintain symmetrical demolition, with a daily demolition volume not exceeding 30% of the total floor area to avoid structural imbalance. - Real-Time Monitoring
During construction, it is necessary to monitor the stress changes in the support system and adjust the construction plan in a timely manner to ensure safety.
