Reinforcement Measures for Prefabricated Slab Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The reinforcement measures for prefabricated slab houses mainly include the following methods, which can be selected according to the structural characteristics and actual needs of the house:

1. Foundation Reinforcement By expanding the foundation size, deepening the foundation depth, or adding steel reinforcement mesh, the foundation's bearing capacity can be enhanced; at the same time, reinforcement agents or sealing materials can be injected to improve the foundation's seismic performance. This method is suitable for houses with insufficient foundation bearing capacity or settlement risks.

2. Structural Reinforcement

  • Steel Component Reinforcement: Add steel beams, steel columns, or steel plates at key locations such as walls, stairs, and roofs to enhance overall strength and stiffness.
  • Reinforced Concrete Injection: Inject reinforced concrete into the interior of walls to enhance their seismic resistance.
  • Floor Thickening: Add a layer of reinforced concrete adhesive not less than 40 millimeters thick on the surface and bottom of the prefabricated floor to increase its bearing capacity.

3. Frame Reinforcement Install a metal frame on the exterior walls of the house to form an overall support structure and fill it with reinforcement agents or sealing materials to enhance the frame's seismic performance. This method is suitable for houses with insufficient exterior wall stability.

4. Seismic Isolation Reinforcement Install spring isolators, rubber isolators, or other devices in the foundation or structure to isolate the transmission of seismic energy, reduce the impact of horizontal and vertical seismic forces on the house, and lower the amplitude of vibrations.

5. Steel Bar Reinforcement Add steel bars at locations such as walls, stairs, and beams and columns to form a steel bar framework, enhancing overall strength and stability, especially suitable for areas with insufficient local bearing capacity.

6. Grouting Reinforcement Method Inject cement-based or chemical grouting materials into cracks in walls or foundations to fill voids and enhance overall integrity, preventing deformation or crack expansion and improving seismic performance.

7. Steel Mesh Reinforcement Method Lay a steel mesh on the surface of walls or floors and cover it with sprayed concrete or plaster to form a composite structure, enhancing crack resistance and bearing capacity.

8. Steel Plate Bonding Reinforcement Method For walls or floors with cracks or deformations, bond steel plates and fix them with structural adhesive to directly enhance bearing capacity and stability, suitable for local damage repair.

9. Additional Support Reinforcement Method Add diagonal braces, horizontal braces, and other support components to walls or roofs to disperse loads and increase structural stiffness, preventing deformation or collapse.

10. Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Method When the load increase is minimal, paste carbon fiber cloth on the bottom of hollow slabs to utilize its high-strength properties to enhance the floor's flexural capacity, suitable for lightweight reinforcement needs.

11. Profile Steel Reinforcement Method Install profile steel (such as angle steel) at the four corners under the prefabricated slab to form an octagonal support system, effectively dispersing loads and increasing the floor's bearing capacity, suitable for large-span floor reinforcement.

12. Plywood Reinforcement Method By adding wooden or steel plates between prefabricated slabs to form a sandwich structure, enhance local bearing capacity and stiffness, suitable for local damage repair of floors.

Implementation Recommendations: Before reinforcement, a professional institution should assess the house's structure and develop a targeted plan; during construction, strict adherence to specifications should be ensured to guarantee material quality and connection reliability; after reinforcement, load testing and long-term monitoring should be conducted to verify effectiveness and ensure safety.
