How to Route Plumbing and Wiring in Prefabricated Slab Houses

Admin September 19, 2026

The routing of plumbing and wiring in prefabricated slab houses can be achieved through options such as utilizing ceiling spaces, creating grooves in walls, and laying conduits within the prefabricated slabs. It is strictly prohibited to create grooves in the floor slabs.

  • Utilizing Ceiling Spaces: In prefabricated slab houses with suspended ceilings, the space within the ceiling is an ideal location for wiring. By laying electrical conduits within the ceiling, damage to the prefabricated floor slab structure can be avoided. During the operation, it is essential to ensure that the conduits are securely fixed to prevent wire movement, which not only guarantees the lifespan of the wires but also avoids potential safety hazards caused by wire movement. Additionally, the insulation performance of the wires must be maintained to prevent electrical leakage accidents.

  • Creating Grooves in Walls: When connecting wires between different locations indoors, grooves can be created in the walls to lay the wires. However, before creating grooves, it is crucial to fully understand the wall structure to avoid damaging load-bearing walls or the connection parts between the prefabricated floor slab and the walls, which are vital for the overall structural stability of the house. The grooves should be made flat to facilitate subsequent wire laying and wall repair work. After creating the grooves, they should be promptly filled and the walls repaired to maintain their aesthetic appeal and integrity.

  • Laying Conduits within Prefabricated Slabs: If choosing to lay conduits within the prefabricated slabs, the location of the junction boxes should be precisely determined in advance. After confirming the location, corresponding installation holes should be chiseled out in the floor slab with caution to avoid indiscriminate chiseling that could damage the slab structure. When laying the conduits, attention should be paid to the position of the steel bars within the slab, as they are an essential component for the load-bearing capacity of the prefabricated slab. Chiseling through the steel bars can severely compromise the load-bearing safety of the slab. If the prefabricated slab already has hollow pipes leading directly through it, sheathed wires can be placed within these hollow pipes to complete the concealed wiring layout on the roof, which is both safe and efficient.

Special Reminder: It is strictly prohibited to create grooves in the floor slabs. Since prefabricated floor slabs are hollow, creating grooves can damage the slab structure, reduce its load-bearing capacity, and thus pose serious safety hazards, threatening the lives and property of the occupants.
