Lighting Wiring for Prefabricated Slab Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

There are several main methods for arranging lighting wiring in prefabricated slab houses:

Threading through prefabricated slab holes: This is a relatively direct method. At the positions where chandeliers or other lighting fixtures need to be installed, first drill holes, and then thread the lighting wires through the holes in the prefabricated slabs. This method takes advantage of the structural characteristics of the prefabricated slabs themselves, making the construction relatively simple. However, it is necessary to accurately determine the drilling positions to avoid damaging the structure of the prefabricated slabs and affecting the overall safety of the house.

Chasing grooves in the floor slab for wiring: During the manufacturing process of the prefabricated floor slabs, grooves are pre-chased inside the slabs. When chasing the grooves, the depth, width, and position must be strictly controlled to ensure compliance with the regulations for wire laying. After that, the wires are laid inside the grooves. This method can hide the wires inside the floor slabs, making it more aesthetically pleasing. However, the groove-chasing process requires professional skills and tools, and it has a certain impact on the structure of the floor slabs, so extra caution is needed during construction.

Pre-reserving wire openings in the floor slab: Also during the manufacturing stage of the prefabricated floor slabs, wire openings are pre-reserved inside the slabs. When installing the wires, operations are only carried out at these pre-reserved openings. However, the positions and depths of the openings need to be precisely planned; otherwise, it may cause difficulties in subsequent wire installation and even affect the lighting effect and house safety.

Threading flexible tubes through existing holes in the prefabricated slabs: First, drill a hole in the prefabricated slab, then thread a flexible tube through the existing holes in the prefabricated slab, and next, drill a small hole at the position where the lighting fixture is to be installed to lead out the flexible tube. The diameter of the grooves chased in the prefabricated slabs is usually 20mm, but it should be determined according to the actual situation and design requirements. This method can effectively protect the wires, preventing them from being damaged by external forces, and the construction is relatively flexible.

Chasing grooves along the base of the wall: Chase a groove along the base of the wall to arrange the lighting wires, and then drill new holes at the required positions to thread the wires through and lead them out. It should be noted that no horizontal grooves should be chased in the prefabricated slabs because the structural characteristics of the prefabricated slabs mean that chasing horizontal grooves will cause them to break, which in turn will pose safety problems for all the rooms above.

Leading wires from the ground: Directly lead the wires up from the ground to arrange the lighting wires. This method is simple in construction, but it may affect the aesthetics of the ground, and when activities are carried out on the ground, the wires may be collided with, causing damage and posing certain safety hazards.
