Ceiling Installation for Prefabricated Slab Houses
For ceiling installation in prefabricated slab houses, gypsum board ceilings or integrated ceilings can be used, depending on the house type and structural characteristics.

Gypsum Board Ceiling
For the renovation of older prefabricated slab houses, if the ceiling surface is uneven, directly applying putty may lead to peeling and falling off in the future. In this case, using a gypsum board ceiling is a good solution. The gypsum board ceiling can adjust the flatness through the keel framework, effectively covering the defects on the surface of the prefabricated slab ceiling and providing a flat base for subsequent decoration. During construction, first install a light steel keel or wooden keel framework, ensuring that the framework is firm and level. Then fix the gypsum board onto the framework and finally carry out surface treatment procedures such as applying putty, sanding, and painting. This ceiling method has relatively low costs and mature construction techniques, making it suitable for most living rooms and bedrooms in prefabricated slab houses.
Integrated Ceiling
Prefabricated slab houses can also use integrated ceilings, but the following issues need to be considered according to specific scenarios:
- Old-style prefabricated slab balconies: It is necessary to focus on evaluating the load-bearing capacity of the balcony and understand relevant design specifications and safety limits to avoid safety issues caused by the increased load from the integrated ceiling and its accessories. During construction and design, factors such as ventilation and lighting should be considered. Choose ceiling materials that match the balcony's decoration style, while also paying attention to the material's sturdiness and space utilization. Since prefabricated slabs usually cannot be freely bent and processed, if the integrated ceiling requires a complex shape, it needs to be reasonably designed according to the characteristics of the prefabricated slab. During installation, hooks and lifting equipment are required. Generally, scaffolding or large machinery is needed. The installation period is relatively long and the cost is high, so it is necessary to make plans and budget arrangements in advance. In addition, the surface of the prefabricated slab needs to be painted. Appropriate paint should be selected and the painting quality should be ensured, which increases the difficulty of cost control.
- Bedrooms with hollow cement prefabricated slabs: The ceiling should be installed on the concrete framework of the hollow cement prefabricated slab, rather than directly on the prefabricated slab. Due to the hollow nature of the prefabricated slab, direct installation will result in a too-small load-bearing area for the ceiling, which is prone to cracks and affects the service life and safety. At the same time, the load-bearing capacity of the prefabricated slab needs to be considered. Generally, each prefabricated slab can bear a load of about 120 kg. If the ceiling is too heavy, it is easy to cause the prefabricated slab to crack. Therefore, when choosing integrated ceiling materials and accessories, their weight should be strictly controlled.
