Prefabricated Slab for Industrial Factory Building Roof

Admin September 19, 2026

The roof of industrial factory buildings made of prefabricated slabs has a certain degree of sturdiness, and its performance depends on multiple factors such as material, structure, installation process, and usage environment.

Material and Structural Characteristics

Prefabricated slabs are typically molded and cured from a mixture of cement, sand, gravel, and additives. They are characterized by high strength, light weight, and good durability. Their structural design fully considers load-bearing capacity and stability, effectively dispersing roof loads and enhancing load-bearing capacity. For example, prestressed double-T slabs are reinforced with steel strands and can achieve a compressive strength of up to C50MPa, meeting the load requirements of large-span buildings.

Common Types and Applicable Scenarios

  • Prestressed Double-T Slabs: With a span of 12-30 meters and a compressive strength of C50MPa, they are suitable for large-span industrial factory buildings. They offer high load capacity, corrosion resistance, and a lifespan of up to 50 years. However, they require hoisting for installation, making construction more challenging.
  • Steel-Frame Lightweight Roof Panels: With a span of 6-15 meters and a compressive strength of 1.8MPa, they have a Class A fire rating, are easy to install, and lightweight, making them suitable for medium-span buildings.
  • Concrete Hollow Prefabricated Slabs: With a span of 3-6 meters and a compressive strength of 3.5MPa, they are cost-effective and simple to construct but have a smaller span, making them suitable for small-span roofs.

Installation Process Requirements

Proper installation methods ensure tight and stable connections between prefabricated slabs. It is necessary to select an appropriate connection method, ensure uniform gaps between slabs, and promptly perform sealing treatments. For example, prestressed double-T slabs require professional hoisting equipment for installation, while steel-frame lightweight roof panels can be connected by welding or bolts.

Advantages and Disadvantages Analysis

  • Advantages: Fast construction speed, relatively low cost, good load-bearing capacity, and waterproof and fireproof properties.
  • Disadvantages: High construction precision requirements and relatively high maintenance costs in the later stage. For example, prestressed double-T slabs require regular inspections for steel strand corrosion.

Selection Recommendations

  • Large-span requirements (over 12 meters): Prioritize prestressed double-T slabs or steel-frame lightweight roof panels.
  • Medium-span requirements (6-12 meters): Both steel-frame lightweight roof panels and concrete hollow prefabricated slabs can meet the needs.
  • Small-span requirements (under 6 meters): Concrete hollow prefabricated slabs are a cost-effective choice.

Precautions

Select the span based on the roof load requirements to avoid overloading. Ensure that the site has hoisting conditions for large-span prefabricated slabs. Choose prefabricated slabs that meet the fire rating requirements according to the building's purpose, such as selecting Class A fire-resistant materials for chemical factory buildings.
