How to Deal with the Roof of a Prefabricated Panel House

The main treatment methods for the roof of a prefabricated panel house include flatness treatment, leak treatment, and non-ceiling treatment.

Flatness Treatment

If the roof error is less than 5 millimeters, it can be directly leveled with gypsum, with a cost of about 30 yuan per square meter. However, the thickness should not exceed 3 millimeters; otherwise, it is prone to hollowing and peeling. If the error is between 5 and 20 millimeters or exceeds 20 millimeters, plastering and gypsum treatment are not effective, and a ceiling must be installed to solve the flatness problem.

Leak Treatment

• Color-steel roof: Made of metal sheets with an anti-rust coating, it is installed by pressing whole pieces together and basically does not leak. Installation methods include pointed-roof and flat-roof styles. The cost of a pointed roof is about 20% higher than that of a flat roof, with a service life of 20 years and a basic price of 60 - 80 yuan per square meter.
• Waterproof membrane: It has a good roof waterproofing effect, but the effectiveness depends on the quality of the waterproof membrane and the technical skill of the construction workers. The price of the waterproof membrane alone is about a dozen yuan per square meter. After adding construction costs, the service life is generally about 15 years.
• Plastic film covering: Cover the entire roof with a plastic film, then secure it with fasteners or cover it with a layer of soil or other covering materials. This method is inexpensive, costing about 2 yuan per square meter, but has a relatively short service life, generally 2 - 3 years.

Non-ceiling Treatment

• Insulation board covering: Covering with insulation boards can prevent the impact of excessively high or low temperatures on the human body, reduce heat loss, and improve the energy-saving effect of the house. Common insulation materials include EPS boards, XPS boards, and rock wool boards, which can be selected according to the local climate conditions and the specific situation of the prefabricated panel house.
• Cement coating treatment: Applying a layer of cement on the roof of the prefabricated panel house can ensure the structural safety of the house, effectively prevent the impact of weather conditions such as wind and sand and rain on the house, increase the waterproof performance of the house, and avoid water stains and other problems.
