What Are the Uses of Prefabricated Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The uses of prefabricated houses are mainly reflected in multiple scenarios such as urban residential construction, overseas apartment construction, and rural housing construction.

In the field of urban residential construction, prefabricated houses demonstrate significant advantages. Taking a public housing project in Shenzhen, Guangdong as an example, five residential buildings nearly 100 meters high are assembled from 6,028 concrete modules. Compared with traditional construction methods, this construction approach significantly shortens the completion and delivery time, reducing it from the original 2.5 to 3 years to just 1 year, and also reduces on-site labor by about 50%. This indicates that prefabricated houses can improve construction efficiency and save labor costs in urban residential construction, meeting the housing demands of rapidly developing cities, especially suitable for large-scale residential projects such as public housing, and helping to alleviate urban housing shortages.

Overseas apartment construction is also an important application scenario for prefabricated houses. China's 'prefabricated houses' (modular buildings) are widely popular overseas. These prefabricated houses are fully prefabricated in factories and then transported to the site for rapid assembly. Their high cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness meet the demands of overseas markets. In some overseas regions, due to factors such as high labor costs and strict construction period requirements, traditional construction methods face numerous challenges, while prefabricated houses can provide ideal solutions for overseas apartment construction with their advantages of efficiency, environmental protection, and economy.

In rural housing construction, prefabricated houses also have a broad market. In rural areas of Henan, prefabricated houses are gradually becoming popular. They are fast to construct, with a house being hoisted and completed in about 4 hours; and they are low-cost, with a construction cost of just over 300 yuan per square meter, and building a 200-square-meter house only costs about 70,000 to 80,000 yuan. This low-cost and high-efficiency construction method is highly favored by farmers. For villagers who need to improve their family housing conditions, custom-made prefabricated houses have become an ideal choice, helping to enhance the living quality of rural residents.
