Prefabricated House Transport Insurance Cost
Admin September 19, 2026
The cost of transport insurance for prefabricated houses cannot be directly given as a specific amount, as its calculation involves multiple complex factors.

Basic Calculation Methods
- Calculation based on cargo value: Insurance premium = Cargo value × Insurance rate. Here, the cargo value is usually determined by its actual value, which is the purchase price plus related costs such as transportation expenses. Alternatively, the insured amount can be calculated based on an agreed-upon markup ratio (generally 10% - 30%) on the actual value. For example, if the actual value of a prefabricated house is 1 million yuan and the insurance rate is 0.5%, the insurance premium calculated based on the actual value is 1 million × 0.5% = 5,000 yuan.
- Calculation considering the insurance markup rate: In some cases, the insured amount is calculated as 110% of the cargo value (i.e., an insurance markup rate of 10%). In this case, the insurance premium = Cargo value × (1 + Insurance markup rate) × Insurance rate. Using the same example of a prefabricated house with an actual value of 1 million yuan and an insurance rate of 0.5%, the insurance premium = 1 million × (1 + 10%) × 0.5% = 5,500 yuan.
Other Factors Affecting the Cost
- Transportation distance: The insurance cost is positively correlated with the transportation distance. The farther the distance, the higher the risks encountered during transportation, such as an increased likelihood of encountering severe weather or traffic accidents, resulting in a corresponding increase in the insurance premium.
- Type of insurance: Different types of transportation insurance, such as marine insurance, land transportation insurance, and air transportation insurance, have different premium standards. Marine transportation may face risks such as piracy and waves, land transportation may be affected by road conditions and traffic accidents, and air transportation involves risks related to flight safety. Different risks correspond to different rates.
- Cargo weight or volume: For bulk cargo, charges may be based on per unit of weight or volume. For packaged cargo, charges may be based on the weight or volume of each piece. Since prefabricated houses have a relatively large volume, this may affect the calculation of the insurance premium.
- Cargo characteristics: High-risk goods such as fragile items and perishable items have higher insurance rates. Although prefabricated houses do not belong to these typical high-risk goods, if their structure is complex and prone to damage, it will also affect the rate.
- Transportation method and carrier: The condition of the transportation vehicle and the qualifications and experience of the carrier also affect the rate. If the transportation vehicle is old and the carrier has insufficient experience, the risks increase, and the insurance premium may rise.
- Customer qualifications and claim records: Customers with good qualifications and low claim records can enjoy lower rates.
In practice, to obtain accurate information on transportation insurance costs, it is advisable to consult directly with an insurance company or a professional logistics consultant.
