Thermal Insulation Materials for Prefabricated Houses
There are various types of thermal insulation materials for prefabricated houses, including foam concrete, XPS extruded polystyrene board, rock wool board, etc. Different materials vary in performance, applicable scenarios, and prices.

Foam concrete has a thermal conductivity ranging from 0.08 to 0.18 and achieves a Class A fire rating, ensuring high safety. Its price is about half that of traditional materials, highlighting its cost-effectiveness. Additionally, it offers high construction efficiency, with workers able to lay 2,000 square meters in a day. However, it has relatively weak compressive strength and is suitable for areas with low load-bearing requirements, such as roofs or non-load-bearing walls.
XPS extruded polystyrene board has an extremely low thermal conductivity of 0.028, providing excellent thermal insulation performance. It also offers outstanding moisture resistance, making it particularly suitable for damp environments like basements. Nevertheless, it is relatively expensive and requires Class B fire-rated products to meet safety standards, making it ideal for scenarios with high demands for thermal insulation and moisture resistance.
Rock wool board exhibits exceptional high-temperature resistance, remaining non-combustible even at 450 degrees Celsius. It also provides sound absorption and noise reduction capabilities, making it suitable for places requiring fire prevention and sound insulation. However, it is prone to water absorption and requires proper sealing in humid southern regions to prevent potential impacts on thermal insulation performance and service life.
Foamed cement insulation board has a long lifespan, matching that of the house, and adheres firmly to the base layer during construction, reducing the risk of detachment. However, it has poor impact resistance and should be protected from external forces, making it suitable for areas less prone to collisions, such as exterior walls or roofs.
Aerogel has an extremely low thermal conductivity of only 0.018, offering the best thermal insulation performance among all materials. However, it is expensive and is typically used in special scenarios with extremely high thermal insulation requirements, such as high-end buildings or industrial equipment insulation.
Aluminum foil insulation cotton offers comprehensive functionality, combining fire prevention, water resistance, sun protection, thermal insulation, and sound absorption and noise reduction. Its price ranges from 2 to 48 yuan per square meter, allowing flexible selection based on budget and needs, making it suitable for various prefabricated house scenarios.
Polyurethane black and white materials are used for roof thermal insulation and foaming. The price of flame-retardant AB materials is 25 yuan per kilogram, offering convenient construction and good thermal insulation performance, making them suitable for roof insulation renovations. Graphite polystyrene sandwich composite panels and fire-resistant phenolic foam insulation boards are used for roof and roofing thermal insulation, priced at 158 yuan per square meter and 10 yuan per piece, respectively, suitable for scenarios with high requirements for fire prevention and thermal insulation. Cement foamed insulation board is a Class A exterior wall and roof thermal insulation and foaming material, offering fire resistance and high-temperature resistance, priced at 4.54 yuan per square meter, making it cost-effective and suitable for large-scale applications.
