Methods for Insulation Layer of Prefabricated Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The methods for the insulation layer of prefabricated houses mainly include thermal insulation construction for prefabricated houses, filling foam insulation layers during wall construction, pasting insulation boards on interior walls, and applying insulation mortar on interior walls.

Thermal insulation construction for prefabricated houses: Prepare gypsum fiberboard as a workbench, along with materials and tools such as gloves, rulers, protective clothing, masks, and specialized cutting tools. Taking the gap in the kitchen exterior wall as an example, first measure the width accurately and cut an extra half to one centimeter. Then insert the insulation cotton into the gap. The purpose of this is to ensure that the insulation cotton is better fixed, avoid affecting the thermal insulation effect due to gap issues, and guarantee the thermal insulation performance of the prefabricated house.

Filling foam insulation layers during wall construction: First, build two red brick walls and fill foam, such as polyurethane foam, between them. During the wall-building process, drill holes in the wall and fill the foam into the wall through pipes, ensuring uniform filling. The foam will solidify within a few minutes after filling and dry and set within 10 - 15 minutes. This type of insulation layer has many advantages, including being waterproof and moisture-proof, having high fire resistance, and having a service life of up to 30 years. However, it also has a drawback, which is that it takes up relatively more space, so it needs to be considered carefully in situations with limited space.

Interior wall insulation methods:

  • Pasting insulation boards on interior walls: Preferably choose graphite polystyrene boards, which have a B1-level fire resistance rating (difficult to burn). It is recommended that the thickness be more than 3 centimeters and the density be more than 25 kilograms. During construction, first level the interior wall surface, apply specialized adhesive mortar to the surface of the insulation board, and then paste it on the wall. Next, use an electric drill to make holes and install insulation nails to enhance the stability of the insulation board. Finally, apply a finishing plaster on the surface, press in alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh, and then apply another layer of finishing plaster. After that, you can scrape putty, spray latex paint, or paste wall coverings or wallpapers according to your needs, but it is better not to paste tiles on the surface.
  • Applying insulation mortar on interior walls: There are two options. One is to buy ready-made insulation particle mortar and apply it directly. The other is to buy perlite particles and mix them into insulation particle mortar by yourself for application. The operation is relatively simple and can effectively improve the thermal insulation effect of the interior wall.
