Do Prefabricated Houses Belong to Prefabricated Panel Houses?

Prefabricated houses are not entirely the same as prefabricated panel houses.

From the perspective of definition and composition, prefabricated panel houses are built using prefabricated panels as the main components. These prefabricated panels are cement components manufactured in factories. Typically, they are pre-made in factories according to specific specifications and standards and then transported to the construction site for splicing and installation to quickly establish the basic structure of the house. This construction method is relatively simple, fast, and cost-effective, and has been widely used in the past, especially in temporary buildings or projects sensitive to costs.

The concept of prefabricated houses is broader and falls under the category of prefabricated buildings in academic terms. It involves decomposing a house according to functional areas, constructing different rooms or building components in different factories, and then packaging and transporting them to the construction site for on-site assembly. Prefabricated buildings come in various types, including block buildings, panel buildings, box buildings, skeleton panel buildings, and lift-slab and lift-floor buildings.

Among them, panel buildings use prefabricated panels, but the types and uses of these panels are more diverse, not limited to cement prefabricated panels, and may also include metal panels, wooden panels, etc. Moreover, the combination methods and roles of panels in buildings are more complex and flexible. Box buildings are made by fabricating rooms or units into complete box-like components in factories and then assembling them directly on-site. Skeleton panel buildings use column and beam skeleton structures as the main body and then install prefabricated panels as the enclosure structure. Lift-slab and lift-floor buildings use columns as guide rods to lift floor slabs or roof panels into place.

It can be seen that prefabricated panel houses are just a specific type of prefabricated houses (prefabricated buildings). Prefabricated houses encompass a wider variety of construction methods and structural forms, and one cannot simply equate prefabricated houses with prefabricated panel houses.
