How to Install Ceilings in Prefabricated Floor Slab Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

When installing ceilings in prefabricated floor slab houses, it is necessary to choose an appropriate method according to the actual situation. Common methods include gypsum board ceilings and integrated ceilings, each with its own considerations.

Gypsum Board Ceilings

When using gypsum board ceilings in prefabricated floor slab houses, it is crucial to pay attention to the unevenness of the prefabricated slab ceiling. Since the prefabricated slab ceiling may be uneven, directly applying putty may lead to peeling and falling off in the future. Using gypsum board ceilings is a better solution. Gypsum board can level the uneven ceiling to a certain extent, making the ceiling surface smoother and enhancing the overall decoration effect.

Integrated Ceilings

  • Structural Issues: Prefabricated slabs generally do not have the characteristics of free bending and processing. If the integrated ceiling requires a complex shape, the prefabricated slab may not be able to meet the requirements, which will limit the design style of the integrated ceiling. Therefore, when designing an integrated ceiling, it is necessary to design it reasonably according to the characteristics of the prefabricated slab to avoid installation problems or aesthetic issues due to shape problems.
  • Installation Issues: When installing an integrated ceiling, the prefabricated slab requires the use of hooks, lifting equipment, etc. In general, scaffolding or large machinery is also needed, which will lengthen the installation cycle and increase costs, potentially affecting the overall decoration cycle. Therefore, it is necessary to make plans and budget arrangements in advance before decoration to ensure sufficient time and funds for the installation of the integrated ceiling.
  • Coating Issues: The surface of the prefabricated slab needs to be coated, which increases the coating cost and quality control difficulty. It is necessary to choose the appropriate coating to ensure coating quality and guarantee the aesthetics and durability of the integrated ceiling. If the coating is not properly selected or the coating quality is poor, problems such as fading and peeling of the ceiling surface may occur.
  • Installation Location: For bedrooms with hollow cement prefabricated slabs, the ceiling should be installed on the concrete frame of the hollow cement prefabricated slab rather than directly on the prefabricated slab. Because the prefabricated slab has a hollow characteristic, direct installation will result in a too-small load-bearing area for the ceiling, which is prone to cracks and affects the service life and safety of the ceiling.
  • Ceiling Weight: The load-bearing capacity of the prefabricated slab should be considered. Generally, each prefabricated slab can bear a load of about 120kg. If the ceiling is too heavy, it is easy to cause the prefabricated slab to crack. Therefore, when selecting materials and accessories for the integrated ceiling, it is necessary to strictly control their weight to ensure that the ceiling weight is within the load-bearing range of the prefabricated slab.
