Prefabricated Concrete House

Admin September 19, 2026

A prefabricated concrete house is a form of construction where the main body of the house is pre-cast with concrete components in a factory. During house construction, these components are connected like building blocks to form a rough house.

Construction Process:
In the factory, workers first assemble metal steel plates into molds using bolt connectors. After applying a release agent, they place steel bars crosswise in the molds and tie them into a mesh framework, while also placing connectors as attachment points for the concrete components and cranes. Next, concrete is poured into the molds, and vibrators are used to remove air bubbles. After pouring, the surface is smoothed, covered with plastic sheds, and heating devices are installed to promote cement hydration reactions and improve the quality of the concrete components. When building the house, a pit about 1 meter deep is dug at the home site. After laying a moisture-proof PE film at the bottom, "discarded concrete" (waste concrete materials from construction and demolition activities) is poured in as a base. Once this layer of discarded concrete, exceeding 10 cm in thickness, has completely solidified, guide steel plates for positioning prefabricated concrete piles are installed. A large prefabricated concrete base plate rests on the guide steel plates to form the foundation of the entire house, and then the prefabricated concrete components from the factory are connected.

Construction Advantages:
This method of house construction significantly reduces on-site wet work and allows for rapid construction speed. For example, a two-story reinforced concrete rough house can be completed in about two weeks.

Development History:
Prefabricated concrete technology in China began in the 1950s and was initially applied in factory and residential construction. After the 21st century, it experienced a revival due to its production efficiency and environmental advantages. Companies like Vanke Group have developed prefabricated shear wall residential structural systems and applied prefabricated frame technology in projects, such as the Nanjing Jindi Yufang project, which adopted a prestressed prefabricated concrete assembled integral frame structural system.
