Prefabricated Concrete Assembly House

Admin September 18, 2026

A prefabricated concrete assembly house is a concrete-structured building designed and constructed primarily using factory-produced reinforced concrete prefabricated components, assembled on-site.

Classification: Prefabricated concrete assembly houses are generally divided into two main categories: fully prefabricated buildings and partially prefabricated buildings. Fully prefabricated buildings are typically low-rise or multi-story structures with lower seismic requirements, where all components are prefabricated in the factory and require only simple assembly on-site. Partially prefabricated buildings, on the other hand, combine prefabricated components with cast-in-place concrete, with major components being prefabricated and connected on-site through cast-in-place concrete to form an integral structure, suitable for high-rise buildings or those with higher seismic requirements.

Characteristics:

  1. High Construction Efficiency: Factory-prefabricated components enable standardized production, reducing on-site wet work and increasing construction speed by 30%-50% compared to traditional methods. For example, a two-story reinforced concrete shell house can be completed in about two weeks.
  2. Strong Quality Control: The factory environment facilitates control over concrete pouring, curing, and other process parameters, achieving millimeter-level precision in component dimensions and minimizing human error.
  3. Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection: The industrialized construction model reduces consumption of formwork, scaffolding, and other materials, lowering construction waste emissions by approximately 60% and aligning with the concept of full-cycle green construction.
  4. Strong Adaptability: By adjusting the types of prefabricated components (such as frames, shear walls, and floor slabs), different building functional requirements can be met, and winter construction is less affected by climate conditions.

Structural Systems and Applications: China has developed various prefabricated concrete structural systems, including the prefabricated frame with external cladding system, prestressed prefabricated concrete frame structure, fully prefabricated shear wall (NPC) system, and composite shear wall system. Among them, the NPC system connects prefabricated wall panels with high-strength prestressed tendons for rapid installation, while the composite system combines prefabricated slabs with cast-in-place layers, balancing construction efficiency with structural integrity.

Issues Requiring Attention: As China's prefabricated technology is still in its early stages of development, non-structural safety issues such as water leakage at exterior wall joints, insufficient durability of joint-filling materials, and cracks in composite slab bottoms require special attention. These issues may affect the building's service life and need to be addressed through measures such as optimizing joint design, selecting high-performance sealing materials, and strengthening construction quality control.
