Prefabricated Blocks for Building Structure

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated blocks for building structure are core components of modular buildings or prefabricated houses, enabling efficient construction through factory prefabrication and on-site assembly, with advantages such as structural stability, short construction periods, and environmental protection and energy efficiency.

Manufacturing and Assembly Methods

Prefabricated blocks cover building units such as ceilings, floors, walls, and water and electricity pipelines, all of which are standardized and produced on factory assembly lines and assembled on-site in a "building block" manner. For example, a public housing project in Shenzhen, Guangdong, was assembled from 6,028 concrete modules, and a prefabricated housing project in Henan completed the assembly of a single house in just 4 hours, significantly shortening the construction period.

Material and Structural Characteristics

Prefabricated blocks typically use reinforced concrete or high-strength materials to ensure structural stability. The Henan project explicitly uses a reinforced concrete structure with a design life of 70 years and enhances the overall integrity between modules through cast-in-place connection technology, avoiding weak points in traditional splicing methods.

Core Advantages

  1. Short Construction Period: The construction period is 50%-60% shorter than that of traditional buildings. For example, a rural house can be built in 14 days, making it suitable for emergency or rapid delivery scenarios.
  2. Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency: Factory production reduces construction waste by approximately 80%, and on-site operations reduce noise and dust pollution, meeting green building standards.
  3. Low Cost: The Henan project has a cost of approximately 300 yuan per square meter, with the rough cost of a 200-square-meter house being about 60,000 yuan, demonstrating significant economic efficiency.
  4. High Flexibility: Suitable for various scenarios such as residential buildings, dormitories, and office buildings, and the modules can be disassembled and reused, reducing long-term costs.

Technical Requirements

The production of prefabricated blocks requires high-precision design (with errors measured in millimeters), automated production lines, and industrial cluster support, posing high demands on the technical and production systems. For example, module dimensions must strictly match transportation limitations, and connection nodes must meet performance standards such as earthquake resistance and waterproofing.

Differences from Traditional Prefabricated Panel Houses

Early prefabricated panel houses were gradually phased out due to issues such as weak earthquake resistance and poor sound insulation. Modern modular buildings, however, have addressed these traditional defects through material upgrades (such as high-strength concrete), structural optimization (such as cast-in-place connections), and technological iterations, and comply with current building codes and green building standards. They have been promoted and applied in multiple cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
