Prefabricated Beam Construction Process

Admin September 18, 2026

The prefabricated beam construction process for houses is mainly divided into the manufacturing stage and the installation stage, as detailed below:

Manufacturing Stage

  1. Steel Connector Fabrication: Fabricate steel connectors according to design requirements, ensuring that their dimensional accuracy and welding quality meet specifications, providing a reliable foundation for subsequent connections with the steel reinforcement cage.
  2. Steel Reinforcement Cage Assembly: Bind the bottom plate and web reinforcement on a steel reinforcement jig to form an integral steel reinforcement cage structure. If using an intelligent assembly line for production, the entire steel reinforcement cage needs to be hoisted to the concrete pouring area, and the internal mold should be hoisted into the interior of the steel reinforcement cage to complete the top plate reinforcement binding.
  3. Formwork Assembly and Concrete Pouring: Assemble specialized formwork to create the beam pouring space. Concrete is transported from the mixing plant to the distribution machine via torpedo tanks. Move the distribution machine to the pouring area for layered vibration to ensure concrete density.
  4. Curing and Strength Enhancement: After the initial setting of the beam concrete, remove the formwork and transfer it to a steam curing room via a mobile trolley for steam curing. Steam curing accelerates the concrete hydration reaction, shortens the curing cycle, and enhances the early strength of the beam.
  5. Tensioning, Grouting, and Beam Storage: Once the beam strength meets design requirements, perform prestressed tensioning operations and grout to seal the anchors, preventing steel reinforcement corrosion. Finally, use specialized beam-lifting equipment to transfer the finished beams to the storage area, awaiting transportation and installation.

Installation Stage

  1. Surveying and Layout: Snap the control line for the prefabricated beam's resting length on top of the prefabricated column, with an error margin controlled within ±10 millimeters to ensure accurate beam installation position.
  2. Support Frame Erection: Install the support system for the prefabricated beam and composite floor slab, placing a 20-millimeter-thick wooden pad under the supports to distribute pressure. The frame uses 48-millimeter-diameter steel pipes connected with couplings to form a stable structure, with main and secondary beams using steel pipes and 50×100-millimeter square timbers, respectively, to enhance local load-bearing capacity.
  3. Precise Hoisting: Use a beam-lifting yoke as the lifting device, attaching steel cables to the preset lifting points on the prefabricated beam. Slowly lift the crane to the middle position of the foundation pile and hover. Two construction workers climb to the platforms on both sides via ladders to manually guide the reserved holes at the bottom of the beam to align with the steel reinforcement at the top of the column.
  4. Elevation Verification and Adjustment: After the beam is placed steadily, detach the hook and use a level to recheck the elevation, with an allowable error strictly controlled within ±5 millimeters. Install other beams sequentially and repeat the elevation inspection to ensure overall structural flatness.

The entire process must strictly adhere to construction specifications, ensuring quality through the collaboration of intelligent equipment and manual labor, while strengthening monitoring of key nodes (such as tensioning, grouting, and elevation control) to ensure that the mechanical properties and installation accuracy of the prefabricated beams meet design requirements.
