Prefabricated Assembly Structure House
A prefabricated assembly structure house is a building form that involves the industrial production of building components and their on-site assembly. It offers advantages such as shortened construction periods and reduced pollution, representing a modern industrial production method.

Main Types and Technologies
Prefabricated assembly structure houses encompass three main types: panel assembly, box assembly, and frame assembly. Panel assembly uses prefabricated wall panels and floor slabs as core components, allowing for expanded usable area but with limited design flexibility. Box assembly combines prefabricated functional units (such as kitchen and bathroom modules), increasing construction speed by 50%-70% but requiring higher transportation and lifting equipment. Frame assembly forms a structural system with prefabricated beams, columns, and floor slabs, suitable for high-rise buildings. Technologically, prefabricated buildings are divided into concrete and steel structures, with components including prefabricated beams, slabs, walls, and columns. They adopt standardized design, factory production, assembly construction, information management, and intelligent applications, transferring traditional on-site operations to factories and assembling them on-site through reliable connection methods.
Development History
China's prefabricated concrete technology began in the 1950s, initially applied in factory and residential construction. In the 1970s, driven by the policy of building "three modernizations," technical systems such as large-panel structures and box structures were formed. In the mid-1980s, it stagnated due to cost and quality defects. After the 21st century, it recovered due to production efficiency and environmental advantages. Companies like Vanke Group developed prefabricated shear wall residential structural systems and applied prefabricated frame technology in projects, such as the Nanjing Jindi Yufang project using a prestressed prefabricated concrete assembled integral frame structural system.
Application and Promotion
At the policy level, the 2016 "Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Vigorously Developing Prefabricated Buildings" identified it as a major transformation in construction methods and designated the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, and Pearl River Delta as key promotion areas. In terms of local goals, Hainan Province plans for prefabricated buildings to account for 80% of newly started construction by 2025; Guangzhou will implement prefabricated buildings for 100% of residential land starting in 2026 and comprehensively apply them to commercial and industrial land where technically feasible. In the market, Chinese-made prefabricated houses are selling well overseas, with Guangzhou Customs reporting exports of movable houses worth 1.4 billion yuan in the first four months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 38.1%.
