Simple Construction of Portable Toilets
Admin September 21, 2026
There are mainly two simple methods for constructing portable toilets: using a water storage tank and a pallet, and using a water storage bucket.

Construction using a water storage tank and a pallet:
- Base Frame Construction: Select a plastic pallet as the bottom support structure. Fix universal wheels at each of the four corners of the pallet to facilitate moving the toilet. Recycle a suitable water storage tank and place it on the pallet.
- Tank Modification: Cut the top of the water storage tank to form an open tank. Stack two open tanks together and secure them with self-tapping screws to ensure structural stability. Then, cut a rectangular opening on the side of the tank to serve as the entrance to the toilet.
- Internal Facility Installation: Drill a hole at an appropriate location on the internal floor to install a drain elbow and a pipe for sewage discharge. Secure the toilet and apply sealant at the connection between the toilet and the tank to prevent sewage leakage. Additionally, install facilities such as a faucet, sink, and showerhead as needed to meet daily usage requirements.
- Door Construction: Use wooden boards and hinges to make a door and install it at the entrance to ensure smooth opening and closing.
Construction using a water storage bucket:
- Bucket Processing: Use an angle grinder to split the water storage bucket in half. Fix universal wheels at each of the four corners of a wooden board, then use wooden strips and self-tapping screws to secure the wooden board to the upper side of the bucket to increase the overall height of the toilet.
- Entrance and Wall Construction: Cut an opening on the side of the water storage bucket to serve as the entrance. Install sponge strips to form a door frame and embed plastic soft boards to create walls, providing some遮挡 (privacy protection, here translated as 'privacy protection' for clarity in context).
- Roof Installation: Place the upper half of the water storage bucket on top of the wooden strips to serve as the roof, providing shelter from wind and rain for the toilet. Then, apply white waterproof paint to enhance waterproofing performance.
- Door Construction and Internal Facility Installation: Use foam strips to拼接 (assemble, here translated as 'assemble' for clarity) honeycomb wooden boards to make a door. Drill a hole at the bottom of the bucket to install a drain pipe to form a floor drain. Drill a hole on the side to connect a direct joint and place a plastic bucket as a small water storage device. Connect a bathroom heater, a three-way joint, and a showerhead. Place the toilet and install a water tank, secure it with glass glue, connect the drain pipe to the sewage bucket, and connect a water pipe horizontally from the three-way joint of the outlet pipe to the entrance to serve as the inlet pipe for the sink.
