Portable Toilet for Outdoor Use in Japan

Admin October 08, 2026

Japan has a variety of portable toilets suitable for outdoor use. Here is a detailed introduction:

Simple Folding Toilet

  • Composition: It consists of a C-shaped seat ring, nylon fabric, four aluminum tubes, garbage bags, and a coagulant.
  • Usage: When using it, you can put the four legs of a stool over the C-shaped seat ring, or use four mineral water bottles as the four legs of the stool and fix them on the C-shaped seat ring. Then insert an umbrella into the top of the seat ring and cover the nylon fabric over the umbrella to form a simple tent toilet. You can also use the pole on the umbrella to build a higher toilet stool and then cover the nylon fabric over your body. After using the toilet, just throw away the garbage bag. This toilet has a simple structure, is easy to set up, suitable for temporary and emergency use, and is convenient to carry and store.

Hamanetsu Temporary Toilet

  • Brand and Origin: The brand is Hamanetsu, and it is made in Japan.
  • Features: It is equipped with a compatible mode that allows for the interchangeable installation of a toilet bowl, urinal, and sink, and can be directly loaded and unloaded by a forklift. It adopts the new TBM panel (a foam material core-forming panel), which has a beautiful appearance, keeps the interior fresh, and is durable. Handrails are installed on the side of the main body and the toilet trough for easy manual handling operations. There is no need to change the installation direction of the door according to the replaceable installation. The same main body can have the style of the toilet bowl, urinal, and sink exchanged and installed as needed, and one person can easily make the replacement without tools.
  • Cleaning Methods
    • Flush Type: The outdoor temporary toilet offers the same level of comfort as an indoor toilet. Waste is discharged into sewage pipes or septic tanks, and water supply and drainage pipes need to be installed.
    • Simple Flush Type: This is a simple water-flushing toilet that uses less water (about 400cc) than the flush type. Waste flows into the toilet trough and is treated by suction through a suction port. Water supply pipes and the toilet trough need to be installed.
    • Pump-Type Simple Flush Type: Unlike the simple flush type, this one does not require the installation of water supply pipes. It uses a foot pump to draw a small amount of water (about 250cc) for flushing. Simple water flushing can be carried out anywhere. Waste flows into the toilet trough and is treated by suction through a suction port. There is no need to install water supply and drainage pipes.
    • Non-Flush Type: Commonly known as the "plop type", it has been in use in Japan since ancient times. With the popularity of pump-type simple flush toilets, the use of non-flush types has decreased. It is used in places without water. Waste flows into the toilet trough and is treated by suction through a suction port. There is no need to install water supply and drainage pipes.
  • Applications: It is suitable for outdoor places such as parking lots, marathons, events, and scenic spots.
