Simple Portable Toilet and Bathroom
A simple portable toilet and bathroom can be crafted manually, with the core focus on constructing a modular structure with basic functions using common materials.

The design of a simple portable toilet should revolve around portability, functional completeness, and hygiene. Taking the example of a water storage tank modification, the production process can be divided into the following steps:
- Basic Structure Construction
- Selection of Main Container: Choose a corrosion-resistant water storage tank as the core structure. Use an angle grinder to split it vertically into two halves, creating upper and lower detachable modules. The lower half serves as a fecal and wastewater storage tank, while the upper half is transformed into a roof.
- Installation of Mobile Device: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to form a mobile chassis. Secure the tank body above the chassis using wooden strips and self-tapping screws, while increasing the height of the tank body to meet ergonomic requirements.
- Integration of Functional Modules
- Installation of Sanitary Fixtures: Drill holes at the bottom of the tank body to install a drain pipe, forming a floor drain system. Drill holes on the side to connect a plastic bucket as a small water storage device, and connect it to a simple shower heater via a water pipe (pay attention to electrical safety). Choose a portable design for the toilet, with the water tank and drain pipe directly connected to the sewage tank, forming a closed sewage circulation system.
- Construction of Walls and Door Frames: Use sponge strips to construct door frames and embed plastic soft boards to form foldable walls, ensuring privacy while reducing weight. The roof is directly covered by the upper half of the tank body, ensuring waterproof performance.
- Hygiene and Safety Optimization
- Design of Sewage Disposal System: The drain pipe should be connected to an independent sewage tank to prevent wastewater overflow. The three-way outlet pipe extends to the doorway as the inlet pipe for the sink, enabling secondary utilization of water resources.
- Material Selection Criteria: All components in contact with wastewater (such as drain pipes and water storage tanks) should be made of chemically resistant materials, such as PVC or HDPE plastics. Wall materials should have moisture-proof properties to prevent mold growth.
Precautions: Manual production must strictly adhere to safety regulations, such as wearing goggles when using an angle grinder and having circuit connections performed by professionals. Additionally, simple portable toilets are suitable for temporary scenarios (such as outdoor activities and post-disaster reconstruction). For long-term use, regular cleaning of the sewage tank and replacement of consumables should be considered.
