Portable Convenient Toilet

Admin October 01, 2026

Portable convenient toilets can be made in various ways, with common methods including modification using water storage buckets, water storage tanks, and pallets, or directly using finished portable commodes.

Making with Water Storage Buckets

Water storage buckets are often used for simple toilet modifications due to their sealing and portability. When making one, choose a pressure-resistant, odorless plastic water storage bucket and ensure its capacity meets usage requirements. Cut an appropriately sized opening on the side of the bucket as an entrance, and place a toilet bucket inside or use the bucket itself as a toilet bowl. If a flushing function is needed, install a simple water tank on the bucket lid, connect it to the toilet bowl through pipes, and use gravity for flushing. A sealing lid can be added on top to prevent odor diffusion. Such toilets have a simple structure and are suitable for temporary use, but the toilet bucket needs to be cleaned regularly and the waste disposed of.

Modification Using Water Storage Tanks and Pallets

A more complex modification plan involves combining water storage tanks with pallets:

  1. Bottom Structure: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of the pallet for easy movement; place a recycled water storage tank on the pallet as the main body.
  2. Tank Processing: Use an angle grinder to cut along the marked line on the top of the water storage tank to form an open tank; stack another top-open tank upside down, fix the outer frame with self-tapping screws, and cut a rectangular opening as a doorway.
  3. Internal Facilities: Cut a hole in the ground of the tank, insert an elbow, and connect a water pipe. Seal it as a drainage outlet; align the toilet with the drainage outlet and fix it with glue; install a faucet, a washbasin (which can be modified from a stainless-steel basin), and a shower hose to form a simple washing area.
  4. Door and Decoration: Make a door with wooden boards and hinges, install a door handle, and complete the enclosed structure.
This plan has relatively complete functions but requires certain hands-on skills and is suitable for long-term use scenarios.

Using Finished Portable Commodes

For special groups such as the elderly and pregnant women, finished portable commodes can be directly selected. Their designs usually include a deep toilet bucket, a handle, and a lid for easy carrying and sealing. Some models are equipped with a flushing function, achieving cleaning through built-in water tanks or external water sources. These products are compact in size and do not require complex installation, but the toilet bucket needs to be replaced regularly or the waste cleaned. They are suitable for use in families or medical settings.

Precautions: When making or using portable toilets, ensure the sealing of the drainage system to prevent leakage; regularly clean the waste and disinfect to prevent bacterial growth; if used in public areas, comply with hygiene management regulations.
