Plastic Portable Toilet Installation Guide

Admin October 02, 2026

You can refer to the following guide for the installation of a plastic portable toilet, using the modification of a simple plastic bucket as an example, combined with conventional installation steps:

I. Basic Structure Construction

  1. Bucket Body Modification: Select a plastic bucket of an appropriate size and make a horizontal cut at about one-third of the bucket's height, keeping the bottom as a space for storing waste or water. Ensure that the edges are smooth during cutting to avoid scratches from burrs.
  2. Installing Casters: Drill holes at the four corners of the bucket bottom and fix universal casters with brakes to ensure stability during movement and the ability to be fixed at any time. Choose caster models with a matching load-bearing capacity to avoid deformation after long-term use.
  3. Heightening and Reinforcement: Vertically nail anti-corrosion wooden strips along the outside of the bucket body (the height can be adjusted according to needs, usually 1.5 - 2 meters), with a spacing of about 10 - 15 centimeters between the strips to support the top structure. Create slits at the top of the wooden strips as door frames and reinforce them by wrapping the edges with iron sheets and synthetic wooden boards to prevent the wooden strips from rotting due to moisture.

II. Top and Door Installation

  1. Top Covering: Invert the top part of the cut plastic bucket as a roof and fix it to the top of the wooden strips with screws to ensure tightness. The iron sheet connections should overlap by at least 5 centimeters and be reinforced with rivets to prevent light leakage or rain leakage through the gaps.
  2. Door Production: Make a door panel using overlapping anti-corrosion wooden floorboards, with a size slightly larger than the slit of the door frame. Install hinges between the door panel and the wooden strips and test the smoothness of opening and closing to ensure that the door can be fully closed without jamming.

III. Drainage and Water Supply System

  1. Drainage Hole Setting: Drill a drainage hole with a diameter of about 3 centimeters at the bottom of the bucket body and install a PVC pipe joint with a valve for connecting to the sewage pipeline or an external water storage bucket.
  2. Water Storage Bucket Modification: Select a large trash can as a water storage bucket, drill holes in the middle and upper part of the bucket body to install an inlet joint, and drill holes at the bottom to connect to an outlet pipe to ensure that water can flow smoothly into the toilet water supply system.
  3. Shower Head Production: Cut a PVC pipe into the shape of a shower head, use an electric drill to evenly drill small holes with a diameter of about 1 millimeter to control the water flow. Connect the shower head to the outlet of the water storage bucket through a hose.

IV. Toilet Installation and Fixing

  1. Toilet Placement: Place a finished portable toilet (or a simple toilet seat ring) inside the bucket body and adjust its position to align with the drainage hole.
  2. Sealing Treatment: Fill epoxy resin glue at the gap between the bottom of the toilet and the bucket body to ensure tightness and prevent corrosion. The glue should be applied evenly, and check its firmness after curing.

V. General Installation Suggestions

  1. Check Accessories: After receiving the finished portable toilet, first open the package and check the accessory list (such as casters, screws, water pipes, etc.) to ensure that nothing is missing.
  2. Refer to the Instruction Manual: If it is a prefabricated product, follow the steps in the instruction manual first, which usually includes six steps such as basic assembly, pipeline connection, and function testing.
  3. Video Assistance: You can learn detailed operations through the installation videos provided by the manufacturer, paying special attention to the sealing treatment at the pipeline connections.

Precautions: Ensure that the ground is flat before installation to avoid uneven force on the casters; regularly check the caster brake devices to prevent accidental movement; take anti-freezing measures for the water pipes in winter.
