Plastic Mobile Toilet Model Making

Admin October 05, 2026

The making of plastic mobile toilet models requires comprehensive consideration of mold design, material selection, processing techniques, surface treatment, and injection molding parameter settings, while also drawing on creative modification ideas to optimize the design.

1. Mold Design and Mold Opening

Based on the shape of the mobile toilet (such as square or round) and functional requirements (such as fully enclosed, semi-enclosed, or odor-isolating designs), it is necessary to reasonably plan the parting line, gate location, and ejection mechanism of the mold. For example, a fully enclosed structure requires ensuring the sealing of the mold parting line to avoid gaps after molding; odor-isolating functions require designing independent exhaust channels or sealing structures. Additionally, mold flow analysis should be used to optimize the mold structure, taking into account material shrinkage (typically 1.5%-2%) and molding temperature (e.g., ABS material molding temperature is 220-260°C) to reduce defects such as shrinkage cavities and warping.

2. Mold Material Selection

Mold materials need to have high strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. Commonly used steels include P20 (pre-hardened steel, hardness HRC28-32), 718 (pre-hardened steel, hardness HRC33-38), and H13 (hot work die steel, hardness HRC48-52). Among them, H13 steel is excellent in thermal stability and suitable for high-temperature molding environments, but it is more expensive; P20 and 718 are suitable for small to medium batch production with lower costs. The materials need to undergo quenching and tempering heat treatment to enhance hardness and toughness.

3. Processing Equipment and Techniques

Using CNC milling machines, electrical discharge machining (EDM) machines, and wire cutting machines, ensure the dimensional accuracy (±0.01mm) and surface roughness (Ra≤0.8μm) of the mold cavity and core. Complex structures (such as slides and ejection mechanisms) require precise assembly and debugging to ensure movement flexibility. For example, slides need to be designed with guide slots and limit devices to avoid jamming; ejection mechanisms need to balance ejection force to prevent product deformation.

4. Surface Treatment

Surface treatment of the mold can enhance wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Chrome plating can form a chromium layer with a hardness of HV1000-1200, significantly reducing wear; nitriding treatment (such as gas nitriding) can generate a nitride layer with a thickness of 0.1-0.3mm on the surface, with a hardness of HV800-1000, while also improving corrosion resistance. After treatment, polishing is required to ensure the surface finish of the cavity.

5. Injection Molding Parameter Settings

Set injection molding machine parameters based on material properties (such as good flowability of PP and poor flowability of PC) and product structure. In terms of temperature, the molding temperature for PP is 200-240°C, and for PC it is 280-320°C; pressure needs to balance filling and packing to avoid flash (due to excessive pressure) or shrinkage cavities (due to insufficient pressure); speed should be controlled in stages, with fast filling to reduce weld lines and slow packing to compensate for shrinkage.

6. Creative Modification and Optimization

Existing cases (such as modifying mobile toilets with plastic buckets) can be referenced to reduce costs through modular design. For example, using lightweight materials (such as PP honeycomb panels) instead of traditional panels to reduce weight; integrating detachable floor drains and pipes for easy cleaning and maintenance; adding universal wheels to enhance mobility. During modification, it is necessary to ensure structural stability to avoid deformation due to insufficient material strength.
