Plastic Mobile Toilet Gender Signs
The gender signs for plastic mobile toilets previously used manually adjustable signs, which had design flaws and have now been replaced by safer fixed-slot door signs.
In the early days, some plastic mobile toilets adopted manually adjustable signs to distinguish between male and female toilets. For example, the "tide toilets" at West Lake Scenic Area in Huizhou, Guangdong, installed such signs at the entrance of public toilets, indicating toilet gender by "push left for male" and "push right for female". The original intention of this design was to facilitate flexible adjustment of the ratio of male to female toilets based on actual usage, thereby improving toilet usage efficiency.
However, these manually adjustable signs have obvious design flaws. Since there are no locking mechanisms on the signs at the entrance, the threshold for modification is extremely low. Even a two-year-old child can easily reach out and adjust the sign, and ordinary tourists can also make changes at will. This randomness can easily cause confusion between male and female toilet areas, bringing great inconvenience to users. More seriously, it may also lead to safety issues such as toilet chaos and privacy breaches, infringing on the rights of tourists.
In view of the above problems, the tide toilets involved have made improvements to the gender signs. Currently, these toilets have removed the manually adjustable signs and instead adopted fixed-slot door signs. These signs are placed at the top of the toilet doors, making them more eye-catching. Moreover, due to the fixed-slot design, they cannot be easily adjusted, effectively avoiding confusion between male and female toilet areas and privacy breaches.
This improvement measure reflects respect for and protection of the rights of tourists, and also improves the efficiency and safety of toilet management. In the future, with the continuous advancement of technology and the continuous optimization of design, it is believed that more safe, convenient, and user-friendly toilet sign solutions will emerge, providing tourists with a better toilet experience.
