Portable Toilet for Photovoltaic Projects

Admin October 22, 2026

A portable toilet for photovoltaic projects is an environmentally friendly toilet facility that relies on solar power, features an independent energy system, and can be flexibly deployed. Its core principles and characteristics are as follows:

Energy System Independence and Flexibility

The mobile solar toilet generates direct current by absorbing solar radiation through photovoltaic panels. The electricity is stored in lithium iron phosphate or gel batteries with low energy loss rates. The system is equipped with an inverter unit that converts direct current into alternating current to power lighting, ventilation, and intelligent control systems without the need to connect to the municipal power grid, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This energy independence provides flexibility in spatial deployment: the box body adopts a modular design, allowing it to be prefabricated in a factory and transported to the designated location. The foundation treatment only requires leveling the ground and installing stable supports, eliminating the need for pipeline excavation or the construction of fixed power supply lines, making it suitable for parks, green spaces, temporary event sites, or areas with weak infrastructure.

Efficient Water Resource Utilization

The box body employs a circulating water treatment technology that significantly reduces water consumption. After separating solid impurities in a sedimentation tank, wastewater undergoes membrane filtration to remove suspended particles and microorganisms, followed by disinfection through ultraviolet irradiation or electrolytic chlorine generation technology, avoiding secondary pollution from chemical agents. The treated water meets national reuse standards and can be reused for flushing toilets, resulting in a significantly higher water-saving rate compared to traditional water-flush toilets. For example, the public toilet in Malayi Village, Qinghai, adopts a micro-flush technology with a water-saving rate of 87% and is equipped with a 20-80 purification tank for sewage treatment.

Intelligent Control and Energy Optimization

The intelligent control module monitors the toilet's usage frequency, water tank level, and battery charge through sensors, automatically adjusting the power of lighting and ventilation equipment. When not in use, the system enters a low-power mode and automatically activates the exhaust fan when odors are detected, optimizing energy consumption efficiency. Under rainy weather conditions, the system can continue to operate for several days relying on the energy storage battery.

Material and Structural Design

The box body shell is made of corrosion-resistant composite materials, and the internal facilities feature easy-to-clean antibacterial surfaces, extending equipment lifespan and reducing the use of chemical cleaning agents. The tilt angle of the roof photovoltaic panels can be adjusted according to the latitude of the installation site to maximize solar radiation reception. For example, the public toilet in the Qinghai project is equipped with 22 photovoltaic panels and a 20 kWh energy storage battery, achieving 'zero electricity cost' operation.
