Living Mobile Toilets in Parks

Admin October 08, 2026

There are mainly two real-world types of 'living mobile toilets' in parks, and they do not possess life-like characteristics as depicted in comics.

Ecological Public Toilets Based on Microbial Decomposition Technology

These toilets utilize advanced microbial decomposition technology, with the core principle relying on microorganisms such as bifidobacteria to decompose excrement. During the decomposition process, excrement is gradually converted into water and carbon dioxide, while the small amount of remaining residue can be used as fertilizer, achieving the recycling of resources.

In terms of usage characteristics, they require approximately 80 kilograms of water to activate the microbial community upon startup. Once activated, they can operate in a self-circulating manner without the need for a continuous water supply, significantly reducing dependence on external water sources. These ecological public toilets offer significant environmental advantages, effectively reducing the pollution caused by traditional toilets while also enabling resource recycling.

In practical applications, venues for the Beijing Winter Olympics and some parks in Chengdu have adopted this technology. As an international major sporting event, the Beijing Winter Olympics has extremely high requirements for environmental protection and resource utilization, and the application of these ecological public toilets reflects its advanced environmental philosophy. The introduction of this technology in some parks in Chengdu also provides visitors with a more environmentally friendly and convenient toilet environment.

Mobile Toilets with Special Designs

These mobile toilets typically feature a galvanized steel frame structure, which makes them sturdy and durable, capable of adapting to different usage environments and conditions. Their exterior wall panels come in a variety of designs, such as orange brick patterns, which not only enhance their aesthetic appeal but also allow them to blend in with the surrounding environment.

Their mobile nature enables flexible placement according to actual needs, making them suitable for various scenarios such as scenic spots and campsites. When a scenic spot hosts a large-scale event or a campsite needs to adjust its layout, the mobile toilets can be easily moved to the appropriate location. However, these toilets are essentially prefabricated buildings and have no connection to microbial technology; they primarily meet people's toilet needs through physical structures.
